“Disappointed”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

We stayed at Sharon's Serentiy for five nights and will never make that mistake again. What a surprise to find that we were staying in a utility room with a sagging broken down bed (the Blue Room). The room has inadequate light and the bathroom door hits the side of the bed when opened.

The breakfast was okay, but you need to look away from the kitchen prep area. You will want to concentrate on visiting with the guests and not watch Sharon prepare the food. Taking the jam, peanut butter, and cream cheese dishes off the serving area and adding to them and then setting the used, refilled dishes aside for the next day is not an acceptable practice. Not to mention the finger licking and spoon licking that went on during the process. Yes, we saw that every morning. The preparation of dog food at the breakfast bar was less than appetizing.

It was difficult to sleep with the blaring television and sounds of breakfast preparation and phone conversations at 11:30 p.m. - just outside the paper thin walls of the Blue Room.

We did not feel welcome at the Serenity. Perhaps the host's coolness has to do with her expectation of the guests' disappointment with the Blue room set up as a utility room. The pool and living room are not inviting, with barriers all around. The fence and gate around the living room are said to keep the dogs out, but seem to keep guests out.

The website is misleading and apparently has been for at least three years according to past reviewers. Nothing is said on the website about the Blue room and the utilites in the room. Please read all negative reviews and know that they are right on.

We enjoyed visiting with the other guests and found the location to be very convenient for an early morning walk to the beach.

Room Tip: Read the negative reviews, we found that the conditions described are still present.

Sharon's place had a very clean bedroom and bathroom for us, and her dining room is decorated with some of her interesting personal items, which gave it a warm, personable ambience. The breakfasts were always delicious, with a variety of fruits, drinks, pastries, yoghurt, breads, etc.
Sharon is a gentle, kind person, full of good advice about how to enjoy our stay in Kailua.
By the way, Sharon's pet dogs are cute, well-behaved, friendly, and were NEVER in our way.
Thank you, Sharon! We'd like to stay at your place again.

My wife and I changed our pre reserved hotel in the crowded Waikiki to this amazing B&B.
The best choice.
So quiet hotel and we felt like at home.
It's near every facilities and some beautiful beaches.
We rented a car and is was appropriate to every spot in Oahu from Sharon's.
Thanks Sharon for the great hospitality.
Hugs from Cris and Alessandro

Room Tip: The pool side room was great. It's big with a good bathroom.

After spending a week at Sharon's B.B. it's easy to see why she has been awarded the "Best B.B. in Kailua". From the large home in a quiet neighborhood, the view across the pool to the peaceful canal and Country Club on the other side, it makes for a wonderful experience.
Breakfast with Sharon and the other guests sharing their experiences make for a great way to start the day. All in all, a wonderful place to spend your time on Oahu.

Sharon was able to accomodate us, at very short notice, for three enjoyable nights during our stay on Ohau. Sharon was a delightful hostess serving the most beautiful breakfasts every morning. We were most comfortable in the room we stayed in, and slept extremely well. The provision of fans was much appreciated. Loved the little touches like clean towels every day, the use of beach towels and chairs to take to the beach. Kailua is a lovely little town, with everything one needs. Can thoroughly recommend 'Buzz's Place,' a very nice restaurant which is close by. Their fish dishes and salads are out of this world, not to mention the desserts. Thank you Sharon for your wonderful hospitality. We would certainly recommend your lovely place to anyone visiting Kailua.

We stayed 4 days at Sharon`s Serenity and had a pleasant stay! Sharon is an excellent hostess, we felt like in our family home in her place, exactly what we were expecting in her B&B. We stayed at the suite, which is a spacious room, so we had a great space for our luggage. There is also a fridge inside the room, but a bit old, it was not working well. The bathroom is not inside the room, but there is an exclusive bathroom, also really spacious, just for us at the next door. Everything extremely clean, towels always dry, I loved it! We chose using her kitchen during our stay instead of having the breakfast. I was so glad we chose the kitchen option because we usually wake up really early, and during our stay we ended up waking up even before Sharon! Besides that, Kailua does not have so many options of restaurants and fast food. The B&B has also a beautiful pool area and backyard, so you can enjoy the sun when the wind is cold. The location is pretty nice, really close to Kailua Beach Park, and the street is so calm you can just hear the birds and the wind all day. The dogs of the house are so sweet, just pay attention and don`t let the room open, or you can have an unexpected visit! Thank`s Sharon for all the hints about the places, all the talks and for opening your home for our vacation.

This place is so peaceful and quiet with the pool within this garden viewing the canoes on the canal or just the golfers on the other side.

Sharon takes care of her guests in a "real" B&B by preparing a fresh breakfast (always fruits and yoghurt together with some bagel or muffin), freshing up bathroom and room every day (included fresh towels and beach towels every day) and giving helpful daytrip advice.

The location is perfect in Kailua with the best beach of all the islands within walking distance and this small but well developed town only 15 minutes to walk.

As we did not have a car and only a few days to stay we definitely need to come back to Oahu and could not imagine a better place to stay than at Sharons.
