“Great slice of Paradise.”

I had a great stay at Manu Mele after Labor Day in 2006. The property is well kept and Carol the host was most helpful with any questions I had about local things to do.
If you go, make sure to get directions to Boots & Kimo's for breakfast!
I would definetly stay there again.

  • Liked — Quiet location out of the way of the tourist crowd. Great beach close by
  • Disliked — Parking was a little tight but understandable for a small B&B

My first stay in Hawaii was in Waikiki. After discovering the north shore, I will never go back to the crowded streets of Honolulu. Manu Mele provides a wonderful alternative. There is plenty of free parking and one of the top beaches in the U.S. is just a short walk away. Carol welcomes guests like family and goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable. There are two guest rooms. One has a queen size bed and the other a king. Each room has a small refrigerator and microwave. There is a Safeway supermarket a block away for groceries. The town of Kailua has a nice shopping district with a Macy's surrounded by boutiques catering to diverse tastes. If you want to vacation in a noisy, busy city, then go to Waikiki. If you truly desire a stay in paradise, stay here.

I stayed at Manu Mele in October 2005 and had a nice time. The room had A/C, cable, a small fridge (which included some snacks and coffee), microwave and plenty of closet space. The pool is well-kept and clean in a nice, small garden. The whole place is completely hidden from the street, so it's quiet. The owner's house is connected, but you hardly know she's there - but whenever I needed anything she was very helpful (ie. maps, travel advice, directions). The beach is a very short walk through a footpath behind the house. Manu Mele is located on the windward side of Oahu in Kailua. It's basically in a quiet, suburban neighborhood. I had no complications whatsoever when I stayed there and would recommend it! (you can find it easily on the web by searching for "manu mele kailua".
