“Just ok”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

My kids were really excited to try the shrimp here after hearing some great reviews, but our experience was not so great. The shrimp were of a smaller size and a bit bland. Not the best.

“Delicious.”
Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

The whole idea of shrimp in butter and garlic is classic, but romys takes it to a whole different level. Large portions, with extra garlic and butter, and spicy shrimp sauce. Everything was so good, and though its a little way off (maybe a 30 minute drive), it was all so very much worth it.

“day trip around the North Shore”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

We stopped at Romys after seeing a good review on it and we passed it up but came back. The offer shrimp and Prawns cooked different ways. We had the butter and garlic shrimp and the spicy sprimp and both were very good. They are served with white rice but you can opt for brown rice if you want. You have to peel the shrimp which can get quite messy but they have a sink and soap to wash up afterwards. All eating is outside at picnic tables that are covered. It was a nice stop.

“My favorite shrimp truck”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

Huge portions. Delicious food. Very crowded but worth the wait. One negative was that it was very muddy (unavoidable I think). I liked it a little better than Giovanni's, but both wonderful.

“Great place to eat in the north shore area”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

We were snorkeling on the north shore and decided to get some lunch so we checked out the shrimp places along Kamehameha Highway. Romy's seemed to be the most popular so we decided to stop. From reading other reviews I guess we were lucky to be a bit late, around 2pm, because it wasn't busy. There are only picnic tables under a covered roof. We ordered the sweet and spicy (medium spicy) shrimp and they were delicious. There is a sign there saying something to the effect that it is not "fast food" but good food as fast as they can make it. It took a while but was well worth the wait. Wish I had the recipe for the secret sauce because it was just spicy enough with just a hint of sweetness. Plate came with 2 scoops of white rice and many shrimp and it was filling. Coke refills cost $1 but they give you a big cup to begin with. There is only 1 port-a-potty there but with all of the beaches you can use the bathrooms at a nearby beach. Definitely not fancy but worth stopping.
