I wish we could have afforded the beach front homes in this gated area. From our house there was no view of the beach, so if we wanted the sunset view, we had to go out on the lawn of the beachfront areas. This was not a major hassle, though. We did thoroughly enjoy the wonderful deck. The complex has wonderful "beach toys" and beach items, such as chairs and umbrellas. Beach bikes are provided. This is wonderful. You are within a short walking distance to the wonderful food truck complex, where you can get terrific food!
During the summer, this home would be an excellent snorkeling central location. We happened to be there during two major "swells" of the surf, during the winter season. Beaches were totally closed, and some roads were impassable at times. The areas which are cited as prime snorkeling locations, right near the home, are often inaccessible in the winter. They actually had the "Eddie" while we were there, something that hadn't occurred for several years. In leaving the gated complex, it felt like we were entering the Rose Bowl parade in Pasadena. Thousands of people descended to watch this rare surfing event in Waimea Bay. This was an unexpected addition to our trip. We did have to spend a lot of our time driving to other areas of the island where we could snorkel.
We did have challenges using the bathroom shower, which serves the two guest bedrooms. The four of us were limited to one shower in the main bedroom bathroom. We called to request service, which we didn't get, but we stopped the repair person in the parking lot and he was able to replace the shower head and restore water to the shower.
