“Quick meal on our last day of exploring”
Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

We spent the week at Turtle Bay Resort and had wanted to make it down to Haleiwa all week. We finally did on Saturday. Lunch at Breakers was good. It was diner type food, but still good. Our waitress was fantastic!!! Food came out fast
Just what we needed.

“Nothing special. Regular greasy spoon.”
Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

Ate here once before when we were in Haleiwa. We sat outside and it smelled like fish. This time we sat at another outside table and no fish smell, ok. Sat there for 5 min. before I had to get up, go inside and tell some guy that we were there. There was another customer four tables behind us who was having his order taken when we sat down. So I'm now concerned. The guy I spoke to inside quickly came out and gave us two glasses of ice water. Couple minutes later a waiter came over and took our order. We got two khaluaha chi chi's and a order of fries. The drinks were good. The fries are just frozen store bought, but we liked them regardless. Now the crappy part. No one came over to us to see if we wanted more drinks or anything else the entire time we were eating. After about 20 minutes, we grabbed the waiter and asked for our bill. That took another 10 or so minutes. Was frustrating. We like Chloe's Mexican restaurant around the back. Better all around experiences there for us. I would hesitate to go back to Breakers the next time we are in Haleiwa. Customer service is important.

“Super fast service and scenic decor”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Hale'iwa is a lot like Santa Cruz, CA - an antidote for everything annoying about Honolulu. This restaurant is located in the North Shore Shopping Center, on the south side of town, in an area that also features lots of food trucks, Mexican food, and shave ice. It's a walkable section of town, and there is a lot of free parking. Breakers is on the south side of the Center, right next to a genral store with great low prices for supplies. The decor in Breakers is tiki/surfboard themed, and there are now more than 6 large-screen TVs, so you can relax and watch a few different sports shows at the same time. Not too loud. Diverse menu with great local specials of the day. We liked the Pineapple bread pudding with caramel sauce and ice cream, and the macadamia-nut pesto penne with local shrimp. Delicious! Roughly $20 per person including Arnold Palmer or Plantation Punch (less successful blend of tea and pineapple juice).

“Excellent place for lunch when touring the North Shore”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

My wife and I stopped in for lunch at Breakers Grill while taking a drive along the north shore of Oahu. We visited in mid November, so perhaps not the busy season, but we were seated immediately. The service was fast and friendly but more importantly the food was excellent. We just had a couple of appetizers plus I had a bowl of chowder and Lynn had a salad. The crab cakes and the coconut shrimp were amazing; some of the best I have ever had. Fresh, sweet coconut….yum!

This was the one of the best meals we had during our trip.

“Good, but didn't live up to the hype.”
Reviewed November 19, 2012 via mobile

Based on other reviews and local media, we started out thinking more of the place then it ended up being. Food was good, but we were asked to sit outside at a small table that felt very disconnected from the main dining room, which wasn't actually that amazing. Would go back but as a second or third option.
