Dining with Opal is quite an experience!! You can order off the menu, but you probably won't want to. He quizzes you on a list of ingredients, what kind of Thai food you like, the last time you ate Thai food, what did you have, etc. We really had no idea what to expect, for our table of 4, he brought out 2 appetizers, that were amazing, then 4 entrees, all served family style. There was something for each persons taste. The flavors were intense, we tried things that we normally wouldn't order off the menu and were pleasantly surprised. Opal runs a tight ship, and is very big on customer service. Overall this was a great dining experience. We had about a 20 minute wait and there was a line outside the whole time we were there. Very small, somewhat loud, dining area. Pick up beer or wine at the store across the parking lot, BYOB ok!!

“Best in Haleiwa”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

Other reviews have said it all. However we hadn't read them when we went so dutifully looked at the menu for 20 minutes and decided what we wanted - but you are not allowed to order what you want, After quizzing you for a few minutes Opal orders what he thinks you will like! Our first visit he got 2 out of 4 dishes perfect, good enough for us to go back and try again - this time we were a bit more forceful and said only 3 dishes and no soup or shrimp. We were very happy with the dishes we got. The bill was under $50 first visit, 2nd visit was only $35, and its BYO wine. It is small, always packed and buzzy - you sometimes have to wait a while for a table.

“Opal knows”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We had dinner here last week. It is a small store front in a strip mall. We were seated after a 30 minute wait. Opal came over and asked what type of foods we liked and our experience with Thai food. He custom ordered our dinner with 4 courses and was one of the best dinners and all for under $50 plus our BYOB Champagne!

“DO NOT MISS THIS ONE”
Reviewed September 12, 2013 via mobile

if there's one restaurant you have to try while in oahu make sure you go out of your way for this place. We ate the best Thai food EVER and the experience with the way the owner Opal takes your order (or doesn't take your order ;)) it's all a must. I can't wait to go back to the island to enjoy it again... Sooooo gooood! Just keep in mind the hours. Closed Sunday and Monday. And closed between lunch and dinner from 3-5

“Beyond a 5 Star Rating”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

The best Thai food that my wife and I have ever eaten. The owner came out to our table and asked us what we liked and disliked. We had a large group with one unable to eat shell fish and one allergic to coconut. He took the information and tailored our meals to each of us. One word of warning, the picture of the Opal Thai truck is deceiving. He has moved into a brick and mortar building in front of Longs Drugstore. The address is correct, but do not look for the truck.
