The flight lesson was AWESOME!!! It was by far the best thing to do on Oahu. They are patient, experienced, and professional.

Tom Sanders is an incredibly experienced and knowledgeable instructor, and these flights are just spectacular. You are essentially suspended from a giant kite thousands of feet in the air, and feel completely safe. The equipment is so stable it almost feels like you're not moving as you fly through the air at 70 MPH, and the views of the ocean, island, clouds, and rainbows are something that few people ever see. For my flight, the air was fairly turbulent; almost too much to allow me to do much flying myself as a brand new beginner, but the ride itself was completely worthwhile. Honestly, it didn't even feel that bumpy to me except for a handful of little dips. Even my husband, who gets queasy looking out a third-story window, felt safe and calm after initial takeoff. And the photos... oh, so amazing. If you're going to splurge on an adventure in Oahu, it's hard to think of anything cooler than this. Can give 5 stars. Would give 17 if they'd let me.

I disliked nothing about my visit to this great little operator, who'll take you up and buzz you all over the skies of Oahu. On my one hour flight, we buzzed the pineapple fields of Dole so low you could smell 'em, saw a humpback whale and calf at sea, and even flew over parts of Pearl Harbor. The staff is excellent and love what they're doing. Highly recommended!

..because there aren't any on this winged motorcycle. There is no better way of taking in the breathtaking views of the North Shore from 3000 ft. These gliders are light and very maneuverable (you just use your arms to steer). You are in good hands, Tom and Denise are very knowledgeable and will give you lessons on how to fly this thing- but there is no pressure if you don't feel like flying it yourself. So you are exhilarated, not scared out of your life!

It's a splurge, but well worth it.

this was seriously the most exhilarating (and, oddly enough, relaxation-inducing?) thing we did on our vacation to oahu last week. if you happen to be on a budget vacation and are trying to consider what your one splurge-adventure expense should be (like we were), do yourself a favor and let this be it. considering all the creative ways my BF and i found to spend way than we planned to on holiday, this was the one experience completely worth every penny.

first off, i have to say, in complete agreement with the other reviewers, pilots denise and tom, are SO CRAZY NICE. from making our reservation (book early!) to finally getting out to dillingham, they were both fantastically personable, and really went out of their way to make the experience unforgettable.

tom was our pilot while denise was in China doing some high profile base jumping thing (oh yea, they are like some kind of super awesome supercool high-octane adventure couple, without any of the attitude you might expect). tom was the nicest person we met on our trip. you'd think that flying around in a powered hang glider through holes in the cloud cover and clear all the way up to the highest point on the island would be exciting-yet-nerve-wracking, but tom explains all the safety precautions he takes every step of the way, and really emphasized the flying lesson aspect of it, so it was all excitement with no anxiety all the way.

the views from the glider were indescribable. flying away from all the urban developments and looking out over the coast really (and i hate to sound cheesy here) puts things in perspective. we even flew over sea turtles swimming around--whaaaat, yes.

aside from the sheer epic awesomeness of the trip, i also have to thank them so much for being so accommodating. after you book, they send you this very nice email telling you about how important it is for you to get there on time because they have limited flying hours, and how gps should not be trusted, and how you should just follow the driving directions they give you.

well. we left waikiki with an hour and 35 minutes to get there, thinking that would be more than enough time. except it was raining, and my gps (i know!) told us we'd be stuck in traffic forever, and that we could save time by taking an alternate route. OMG. they were right. gps took us straight to this closed bridge, with no idea how to find the detour. we had to back track, and ask for directions, and curse a lot, and all told, we were like 25-30 minutes late. we were so bummed and had already resigned ourselves to the idea that only one of us would fly.

we SUPER lucked out though, because we were the last two signed up for that day, and tom was amazingly understanding about all the traffic/lights out/construction. it worked out for us, but WOW, that was stressful. if you do book, definitely definitely follow denise's driving directions.

all in all, this was pretty life-changing. tom is apparently one of the best aerial photographers in his field, and the pictures are beautiful, no exaggeration.

thank you, denise and tom and michelle!
