Wanna be in the great out doors with out breaking a sweat or chipping a nail? Well this is the place to you. The trail is well marked and vistas are incredible... heck you'll even get juuuuust enough dirt on your shoes to show everyone that you actually went and "roughed it" for like 45 minutes. Best for boy scouts... it's kind of like a semi-enclosed track for them to get their ya ya's out.

Trail is a decent hike. Pretty foliage around you. Trail is littered with a lot of trash. Pretty easy walking. Only a couple spots were you have to carefully navigate your footing. If your biking it, theres a few places you'll have to carry it and some nearly impossible spots to carry your bike around due to fallen trees on path. Be careful after its rained, trail becomes very slick and muddy and can lead to some disaster spills down the mountain. The length of it makes it not ideal for children. My 4 year old did it, but was not happy by about half way in. Would not be the first hike i'd recommend to friends, but if your out of other options its worth a go around.

About a 3-4 hour hike through the woods. Great views of the H-3 highway.

It is a beautiful trail. Kind of a surprise...you wouldn't expect it in such a croweded city enviroment. Our dogs loved to go for walks there. We live to far away now to do it with our work schedules now.

This hike is in the Keaiwa Heiau Recreational Area. Aeia is a relatively flat and easy loop trail (no elevation gain) with some difficult parts due to muddiness and fallen trees. It's a clockwise trail with nice view points along the way. A bench is available to take in one of the many views (and snack ;)) at about .74 miles in. Once you see H3 winding its way up the valley you are about 1/3 done. There are short paths that lead you to viewpoints, just make sure you get back to the main loop. I don't know how you can get lost on this trail, but I guess it happens.

A few Red-Billed Leiothrixes can be seen along with Red-Vented Bulbuls, Red-Whiskered Bulbuls and Japanese White Eyes. A single White-Rumped Shama was in a tree near the entrance of the recreational area.

*Bathrooms available at the trail head/end and picnic tables throughout.
**Allow a couple of hours if you hustle, allow more if you plan on stopping.
***Another reviewer on another site suggests that you park at the picnic area on the right and do the hike in reverse (counter clockwise). This way you walk back down the hill from the official trailhead. We followed part of her suggestion; we parked in that area and walked up the hill (it's steep, about a 13 on a treadmill setting) to the trailhead, so we didn't have to tackle it at the end of our five-mile hike.
