“Grounds are gorgeous”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2012

We were a party of four staying three nights. Our unit #312 had one bedroom, Vern and I lucked out with the room, but to get any of the breeze coming from the other side of the unit we had to keep our door open. In fact, we kept the sliders open and the screen door open all the time we were there. The living room two put their mattress on the floor to remove the foldaway bar discomfort. We had an ant family in the bathroom. The appliances worked and it was convenient.

Room Tip: Look harder.

Knowing that these units were individually owned I went through Castle Resorts to arrange for the rental because I naively assumed that they would not represent a poorly maintained condo -- I was very wrong! Stay away from C129 -- rodent feces in kitchen drawers, furnishings very sparse and uncomfortable (looked as if someone had come in and robbed the place), bedroom backed up to a lighted walk and had nothing to darken the room and the units behind us were noisy into the wee hours. We complained after the first night and management moved us, although they didn't seem happy about it -- not at all apologetic and seemed a bit miffed. Second unit was adequate although a bit old and tired. This whole "resort" community is old and dated with what appear to be a lot of long-term residential rentals. If you are looking for quiet be aware that there is a "no noise after 10PM" policy that is not enforced and the units are not well sound proofed. There's not a lot to choose from on Molokai, but I will try something else next time.

The condo 212 has great view of the grounds, pool and the ocean. That's all we liked. The bathroom and kitchen are disgusting: dirty toilet, hole in bathroom door, hole in kitchen linoleum floor, rusty and noisy refrigerator. Greasy over all. Screen door to balcony is broken and the liv.rm carpet is dirty. It's outdoor carpet, same as in the pool area. See picks. Definitely not a 200 a night place

We just returned from a week at this condo. We had a wonderful time, but not without some frustrations. Here's our assessment:

PROS: The unit is upgraded with a gorgeous kitchen loaded with just about anything that you'd want in a kitchen. New stainless steel pots, blenders, microwave etc. It is loaded with just about every amenity and peripheral that you'd need. The complex is very centrally located.

CONS: The road noise is significant -- it takes a few days to get used to. The apartment upstairs is very noticeable; be prepared for lots of foot noise in the late evening and early morning hours. Oh, and the local roosters start crowing at 3am and continue until 7am. And when we were there, the Internet connection was seriously troubled -- we only got connectivity during the early morning hours. Any local swimming beaches are about 15-20 miles away. And if you are expecting lots of fresh fish and produce, guess again. There isn't much available on Molokai.

Overall, we had a great time in a very quiet island with almost no tourism and few modern conveniences aside from what is in the apartment. We very much enjoyed our stay at this particular unit in Molokai Shores. It may be one of the better housing options on the island. But be prepared for what is clearly a non-tourist, old-fashioned Hawaiian island.

This was a nice condo to stay at which includes a pool (non-heated), barbecue grills, and a putting green. The condo was clean and well-equipped. We enjoyed having cocktails on our lanai. Donna in the office was very helpful and even got us credit for the first night (we had prepaid and our flight was late to Honolulu so we had to stay overnight there and arrive at Molokai the next day). The beach view is beautiful as you can see Lanai across the water as well as whales in front of the reef area. The beach itself is small and not great for swimming. However, it is entertaining watching the crabs run in and out of their holes. There is a convenient laundry area on site. The bed was comfortable, and the shower had plenty of hot water with a good water flow.

Tip: If coming in on Saturday, be sure to go to the grocery store that day as the grocery store is closed on Sunday.

Room Tip: We were in Unit #C-129. We loved being on the first floor and the view in front of us was the ocean...

This was our 3rd visit to Molokai Shores Unit A215 and we were totally pleased with our two
week stay. Everything was in tip-top shape and well stocked as usual. We immediately filled
up the refrigerator and settled in to enjoy our surroundings. We love the well equipped kitchen since we enjoy cooking our own meals. A special treat this time was being able to meet the owners, Chaya and Tom, who we previously only knew through emails and a welcoming message on the phone. They are devoted to making sure that you are comfortable and any problems are attended to quickly. We hope that we are able to return
many times to a home away from home on the island of Molokai.

This was our second stay at Molokai Shores Unit A215! We absolutely loved it,again! Everything was excellent as advertised. From the start, owner Chaya Friedman is very prompt
in responding to my emails. I've also spoken to her on the phone and she is so wonderful to talk to. It's so evident that she loves her condo and has put a lot of TLC into it. I am just so
grateful that she has opened up her charming condo for others to partake and enjoy.

Perfect location! Centrally located in Kaunakakai....a few minutes from town and Hula Shores Grill at Hotel Molokai...short distance to Molokai Mule Ride Tour and Coffee House...reasonable drive to scenic Halawa Valley Tour!

UnitA215 is beautiful and charming.Chaya captures the island's charm with her decor.Very clean, infact immaculate! Fresh and newer towels and linens, kitchen fully stocked with essentials, refrig was very clean with basic items-very handy! Condo has been completely
remodeled which makes this unit the only one we will stay at.

Perfect heavenly mornings and evenings can be enjoyed on her lanai! We will definitely stay
at this condo again.Chaya even offers a 10% discount for return visitors!Thank you Chaya and Tom for sharing you beautiful gem on Molokai!

Room Tip: Note: Molokai is MOLOKAI ! Embrace and learn about it's people and charm. Get to know their hear...
