“Molokai Outdoors is the way to do Molokai”
Reviewed January 28, 2012

Upon deciding to visit the island of Molokai, my first step was to contact Clare, the owner of Molokai Outdoors to set up tours and assist in planning the trip. We wanted to visit the leper colony of Kaulapapa Settlement where Father Damien (now Saint Damien) worked tirelessly to make life in the Settlement a little more humane.

There are 3 ways to arrive, by plane, by mule or walking - we chose the plane. Clare set up a fantastic trip with an excellent pilot and local guide to explain the history, heart ache and triumph of the human spirit. It is a trip back in time I will treasure forever.

“Very helpful!”
Reviewed September 25, 2011

We cannot say how good their activities are, because due to time constraints we couldn't join them for any activity. However, we went to see them and Clare the owner was extremely helpful and kind to us. She recommended us lots of places to see and discover, definitely thanks to her we visited the best of Molokai. The other shop, Molokai fish and dive, were not as helpful and polite as Clare in Molokai Outdoors.

“snorkel with captain mike”
Reviewed June 11, 2011

Although we appreciated the short notice accomodation to go snokelling, we were taken to a site that was not that clear. We saw a few schools of fish only. We were told by locals there were many many turtles near the reefs but we saw none. I don tthink we went to a good spot or he was very experienced. Captain Mike and his young female helper were kind enough and ensured our safety but were not attentive at all. Took us out and they sat on the bow of the boat and talked. It was a fair price $350 for 6 of us but really it was a short ride out and and a swim seeing very little and then back home. He was not keen to take us to a better spot. disappointing.

“Brilliant!”

Clare was marvellous. She helped me organise my stay on Molokai, (including accommodation!) & is an absolute gem. The main attraction on Molokai is the old Leprosy colony and her company organises trips to this which I could not do because of time restraints........in fact there are restrictions on visiting the colony which is about 1 hours hike down the tallest cliff in the world so if you plan to visit Molakai, then get in touch with Clare to organise this in advance!

“Molokai Outdoors”
Reviewed March 24, 2011

I recently booked with Molokai Outdoors a kayak tour off the coast of Molokai for myself and my two teenagers. The day was perfect: the weather was very good, the views of the coast line were beautiful and the hues of color of the ocean were stunningly awesome. We encountered numerous sea turtles and watched, (and heard), breaching whales not too far off in the distance.

Part of what made this adventure magical was our guide Clare. Her enthusiasm for the ocean infused our trip. We were able to relax and take in the beauty of our surroundings. A couple of times we were able to stop, and thanks to a peaceful sea, hop out and swim. This also gave us the chance to actually hear the underwater 'song' of the whales.

Furthermore as an outfitter, the equipment was in very good shape and Clare's professionalism and proficiency on the water instilled confidence in us all. She made sure that we all knew how to properly handle the kayaks and she also checked more than once to make sure we were within our skill and comfort levels to insure an optimum, enjoyable experience for us.

Needless to say based on our wonderful day I would highly recommend Clare and Molokai Outdoors.
