The sweet bread alone is a reason to visit this local establishment. It might be the best in all of the islands I've visited.

After buying Kanemitsu bread a few times in the local grocery, we stopped into the bakery as we were leaving the island. In addition to the standard bread, cookies, rolls, donuts and bread they also had a full restaurant on the side and a variety of games and toys for sale as well. This place is yet another example of a local landmark that is steeped in history and tradition. It's nice to find these local institutions rather than be inundated with chain restaurants as can be found anywhere. These kind of businesses are the reason to visit a place like Molokai as they represent something unique to this place and something that's not going to be duplicated anywhere else. The bread is very good and offered in many varieties.
We stopped by in the morning based upon reviews. The pastries were average, and the coffee was... nothing special. Probably the restaurant side is better, or the hot bread at night.
The bakery items are decent but only if you get there before all the flies. The restaurant on the other hand is terrible. The service is disorganized, the food absolutely sucks, and the place has no pride in the food they turn out.
We've come here for breakfast many times and its always hit and miss but today was the straw that broke the camels back. The disorganization and lack of customer service here has reached an all time high. We ordered three waffle specials (1 no egg) with bacon and a fried rice Loco. After ten minutes our server came back and brought three sides of bacon two with eggs and my Loco but no waffles. After another ten minutes the waffles were no where to be seen and the bacon and eggs were now gone. still no Waffle. Not only no waffle but no wait help that would acknowledge us. Finally a elder member of the community scolded a young waitress and told her to come help us. She then realized our now cold 15minute old waffles were still waiting to be brought out. she then walks over puts the three plates of waffles down with out ever making eye contact and leaves. After waiting for my family I finally dig into my Loco Moco only to find that my "Hamburger Patty" is actually a large chunk of bread and beef but mostly bread. Then things got really crazy. I headed to the register to pay the tab and left my keys on the table with my family who unknowingly headed to the car since they were totally ready to get out of there. The table was bussed and then all of a sudden the keys were GONE! I asked every visible employee if they had seen them and everyone said no instead they said "the woman you were with took them", I went out and asked my wife if she had maybe accidentally grabbed them and she said no. 10 minutes goes by before a server came walking outside with my keys. When asked where they were I was told "my boss had them.." no other explanation.. The place has potential but they have no heart in what they do. You can see it in the food and the service. We won't be going back here anymore and we will caution anyone we know about going here and spending your hard earned money as well. I do feel bad about snapping at the only waitstaff that seemed like they had clue but somebody has to carry the message.
After whale watching you must come here to eat breakfast. The waffles & french toast are great but my favorite is the corned beef hash!
