We made the mistake of booking our honeymoon on Molokai and was disappointed in many ways. If waking every morning to over-populated roosters cock a doodling and running free at 0500 wasn't a good start, the facility is worn down, moldy furniture, cockroaches, and a mice/rat broke into my food in the room. The music is terribly loud from the poolside at night, and it isn't just on Fri nights like the brochure said. Some of the dishes at the restaurant were tasty, but when I see a cockroach scram accross the floor, my appetite for anything is lost. We went here with TAN vacations, who really need to make some major changes to this vacation destination if anyone would ever return here again.

My stay with my friend at this unique hotel on the laid-back Island of Moloka'i was one of the highpoints of my first trip to Hawaii. It was much preferable to the pace of the big cities and commercialism of the other islands. I loved the Polynesian-style huts, each with their own private balcony or lanai and lovely gardens all around. The open-air restaurant at oceanside had just the right atmosphere and wonderful and varied food selections at comparable prices. Live music in the authentic Hawaiian style was available for the enjoyment of the guests in the evenings during dinner hours. The rates for this special experience were certainly reasonable. It was lovely and quite a memorable experience - one I would love to have again sometime in the future.

My friend and I just stayed two nights on two different weekends at the Hotel Molokai in Hawaii, and it was a wonderful experience. The accomodations may not have been the most modern, but more than made up for that in atmosphere, friendliness, and helpfulness of the staff. The food was excellent at the restaurant. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to get away from the crowds on the more developed areas of Hawaii. A VERY enjoyable experience.

We went to Molokai for first time in April. The hotel is nothing like they show on internet. We stayed there 2 nights then we found another hotel on other side of island.I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. It was dirty, curtains had holes in them. The staff at the hotel was not friendly at all.Not really a lot to do there.Beach is small and dirty.Pool was okay to look at but didn't get in it.Funiture in the room was torn and needed to be thrown out.Bedding looked real old and dirty.

My wife and I finally made it to Hawaii after reading how nice the weather and beaches were.
Our biggest mistake was visiting the island of Molokai during our 3 week stay.
First of all let me warn anyone considering a visit to Hawaii that there is a serious problem that has been escalating on the outer islands lately, it is the local Hawaiian's attitudes directed to tourists and non Hawaiian residents called "haouli".
If you are a "haouli" you are a target.
We stayed at the Hula Shores Hotel on Molokai in Sept. 2005, where the managements rude responses to our hotel room problems (rats, mice, mosquitos, and cocroaches) was very questionable and unprofessional, I will add that the hotel provides a can of bug spray in your room at no extra cost. The Hula Shores restaurant food was terrible compared to other Hotels we have stayed at on the island of Maui. Overall, our stay on Molokai was Awful. Our rental car was broken into, and spray painted with the words "go home haouli", resulting in all our belongings being stolen while we were visiting a very nice beach area. We personally witnessed 3 tourists being threatened, and one shouting match involving tourists and locals at the "Paddlers Inn" restaurant where the food was also terrible. I strongly do not recommend a visit to Molokai island for anyone that wants to have a good and safe vacation, especially if you are bringing your children. I will never visit Molokai island again.

Just got back from a stay at Hotel Molokai. We were given a downstairs unit. Within a few hours of arrival, I was taking a shower and proceeded to turn off the water in the shower when one of the shower handles came completely off the wall. The water in the hotel had to be shut off for a while so it could be fixed. We were moved to another unit for the night and the next morning were given a much more spacious upstairs unit. The downstairs units are very small and havent been updated for awhile. The upstairs units are a little better. If you get a unit close to the pool dont expect to go to bed before 11pm as the music is very loud and you have to have the room open to get the winds to cool the unit.

We were also disappointed by the food in the restaurant. You would think that being surrounded by water that seafood would be applenty, but it seems that mahi-mahi is about it along with fried shrimp. The other menu items were things you can get whenever(burgers, chicken, pork).

The beach is very small and the water is murky. You do have to drive 20-30 minutes to find a descent beach.

The worst. Absolutely disgusting. Roaches, filthy conditions, no security measures, in-room phones don't work (not even to call 911!), weird locals, and the list goes on and on. I beg of you, DO NOT STAY HERE. Avoid this "Bates Motel" on the Island of Molokai! ***BEWARE***
