“Quaint Hotel on the ocean”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

The Hotel Molokai is a breath of fresh air that will hearken you back in time to a simpler life. It reminds me of what many of the places in the Florida Keys were like back in the day.
Not all the rooms have A/C, but with the tradewinds, large overheadceilingg fan and Molokai's mild climate, you wont need it. Our 2nd floor room came with akitchenettee, large balcony with 4 chairs and a table, king size bed, and flatscreen TV. Rest assured you will not be watching the TV since this island paradise offers so much to do. Whether it be sipping on a drink from the poolside bar as you sway back and forth in your hammock on the ocean watching the sunset, or exploring a remote beach without another soul around, TV will be a low priority. The managers name is Michael, and he certainly makes sure you are satisfied with your stay.
So if you are lucky enough to find yourself on Molokai, I recommend the Hotel Molokai as the place to stay.

I stayed at Hotel Molokai from Sept. 10 - 17th, I wish I could have stayed longer. If you want a true, relaxed, genuine, restorative Hawaiian experience...this is your place. Thank you to all of the staff who met every need I thought I had, and even desires I didn't know I would want. Very clean, personal (yet as private as you want). I requested a suite with kitchen. Everything was fully equipped, plenty of room, well thought out. We brought our dinner down near the bar/pool and ate as the sun set. The grounds look like paradise, the architecture and landscaping are a bright site for tired eyes...not overdone, natural and colorful, while at the same time being so unique you will never forget it. Friday night when the hotel opened to island friends to come and have a good time was really fun and insiteful. I made friends with others at the hotel, heard local stories and felt that I learned about the unique Hawaiian culture. Anything I wanted to do (hiking, swimming, exploring, snorkeling etc.) was made possible efficiently. Great local tip to spend Sunday afternoon at the "Coffee's of Hawaii" gathering. So many smiles and happy people! Best of all for me was I knew I mattered, and I want all at Hotel Molokai to know that they matter. In a world that is losing the personal to technology, the rare beauty and relaxed yet with respect to culture was very special. Michael, Gene, Sumu, Andre, David, and so many more, your hospitality, approachability, and investment in my vacation is the best I have encountered. Plenty to do, and also the kind of place where you just want to enjoy being there, because the environment you are in, is so restorative! Very comfortable beds and room temps. The only place I have actually seen the Milky Way.

Room Tip: Selecting a room with full kitchen amenity is a good choice while they rebuild the kitchen/dining ar...

I would like to start by saying thanks to all the staff for making this a trip that will not be soon forgotten. Michael the hotel manager will go out of his way to make you feel like family. Pua and Andre at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. Our room was kept very clean and comfortable, thank you Lana for your hard work and friendly smile. Gene the kitchen manager actually cooked us a meal using a fish that I caught. He did this on his off time. There are many more people at the hotel that work very hard to make your stay a memory that will last. I apologize for not remembering all of your names, but know that all of your hard work and friendly smiles will bring a joy to our hearts every time we think of Hotel Molokai.
Thanks, Ricky and Melinda

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. We had a very nice room with a patio right on the ocean. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The view was awesome. The staff was friendly and helpful. When we asked where we could rent beach chairs, they gave us 2 chairs to use for several days. They even let us borrow the chairs and beach towels after we checked out so we could go to the beach since our plane didn't leave until 6 pm. We were provided with a continental breakfast each day which we did not expect. All said, this is a nice hotel with an exceptional staff.

We landed in Molokai on September 12, 2012 and was orginally booked at the Molokai Shores, after viewing two suitesthere, we said NO WAY. The office staff was curt, uninterested in even acknowledging our presence.
I called Pleasant Holidays and immediately sent us to Hotel Molokai. The young lady, KuKo (sp?) was exceptionally pleasant and made us feel welcome. She showed us two suites and yes, we chose the one closest to "Highway" although, at night I thought maybe the trucks were in our room. Although, the hotel is very rustic, the staff made all the difference. Gene, Andre, Kuko, and Sumu--all were very guest services oriented. They were very friendly and provided exceptional service. Just based on the staff alone, I would recommend this hotel. However,
it is unfortunate that BeachTree Properties Corp. HQ does not realize what a potential gem, the Hotel Molokai is. There are all the variables of a truly outstanding place, exceptional staff dedicated to guest satisfaction, beautiful location--right onto the water, almost NO competition, and a restaurant that needs to be redone. A restaurant that would have very little competition. Actually, it is very disappointing that Beach Tree Properties Corp. HQ does NOT support the community by improving the structural aspects of this hotel, thus providing local ongoing employment.

Are you an East Coast fast paced, pedal to the metal sort of folk? Leave it behind once you get on the plane or ferry to Molokai- you don't need it here. Posted around town you'll see the signs "If the spirit of Aloha is not with you, please return another day". Hotel Molokai makes it easy to stay in your mental Aloha space. The staff is friendly & courteous, but better yet, they are warm, open, and sociable. They will get to know you if you want to be known.

Molokai isn't tropical Hollywood like Honolulu & Kihei. Bring your smile & a cheerful wave- it'll get you far on and off the resort. I stayed in a second floor accommodation with a kitchenette (4.0cubicfoot mini fridge, 2 electric burners, full kitchen sink). Given the restaurant is temporarily closed, I cooked dinner each night which we enjoyed in the bar area by the pool, overlooking the water and enjoying the sunset each night. This was bar far my favorite part of each day. We ordered our umbrella drinks from the bar, socialized with other guests, and enjoyed the easy ends to our days.

If you are a light sleeper, use the earplugs provided. Roosters, wild animals, and the occasional car speeding on the road might disturb you. Don't plan on sleeping past 8am- that's just not the Molokai style.

Don't miss the Friday event 4-6pm. That's all I'm saying. Stay curious :) Just bring your smile.
