It is just a short hike from the parking lot. Read the stories and the history about it before you go... It's NOT just a rock, haha.

If you are already at the Kalaupapa Overlook you might as well take the short hike to see Phallic Rock. If you are Hawaiian, you probably have cultural reasons to want to make a visit. If you aren't Hawaiian or already at the overlook it isn't worth a special trip to see. The hike from parking is relatively easy but probably isn't for those that require mobility aids or have a history of heart disease. Kids would do okay as long as they don't go wandering off the path. Some steep areas around but not in immediately proximity to the cleared walking path.

This was an easy little hike and the legend behind Phallic Rock is important to the Hawaiian people! There were offerings on and around the Rock and we loved seeing a bit of history. Cool place to see!

Not a "hard" walk from the same parking lot as the Kalaupapa Overlook. The "stiff" breeze kept it comfortable. Rather amusing to see how many people have no clue what phallic means. Maybe if they renamed it Viagra rock . . .

It's worth the short walk to see this interesting rock formation. I'm not sure of the Hawaiian significance of this rock but I believe it has some history. It's unfortunate about all the modern graffiti around it though.
