The directions were easy to follow and it is very close to the airport, but far enough to get away from it too. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast is enough to keep you full until it's dinner time. There are restaurants within walking distance and we felt totally safe walking through the neighborhood at night to get there and back. There is a busy street out front, so if you're not used to ignoring the sounds of traffic, it could be a bother during the day. It was quiet at night. Janice was a very friendly and warm-hearted hostess.

Room Tip: We had the Lehua and Hibiscus rooms. Lehua is good if you're just sleeping there. It is conven...

Very nice and polite poeple there at the Wailuku Inn.
A perfect place to stay. Central locations, easy to find and easy to reach from the airport.
Good location to start tours to different sightseeing spots on Maui.
Superb breakfast and nice complimentary snacks / drinks.
For sure I will come back the next time.

This is a wonderfully refurbished historical house and the innkeeper , Janice was very warm welcoming and was always happy to give us information and travel advice for the island. The room was clean, nicely decorated (we were in the Bird of Paradise Room) and the bed very comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious always starting with fresh fruit. The location is great, being very central with all parts of the island easily accessible within about one hour or so of driving ( except for the trip to Hana, of course). This is why we spent all 8 days there. We highly recommend this Inn.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the main street will be quieter but we did not really have a problem.

We stayed here for 5 nights in February - in the Mokihana suite.

The key was left for us in the mailbox outside the main door with instructions of how to get to the room, so it really didn't matter how late into the evening we arrived.

Our room was gorgeous, quality furnishings and very very clean. The room was large, had a king bed with a traditional hawaiian quilt, a spa bath and good air con. The room was also very quiet so we got some excellent sleep. The free in room wifi connection was fast and reliable.

The location is very good, just off the main road and quite easy to find. There is a parking space for one car for each room. It's very well situated for whale watching tours from Maalaea just about a 10 minute drive and easy to get to Haleakala and the road to Hana. Haleakala is definitely worth doing at sunrise - amazing.

The breakfast sitting is at 830 each day but as we wanted to get up for sunrise on the first 3 mornings we requested continental breakfast in our room which was cereal and fruit. The last 2 mornings we had the cooked breakfast and it was beautiful, all freshly cooked and thoroughly enjoyable.

There is a shared fridge and microwave in the dining area and a supply of soft drinks, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks (crisps, nuts, cookies) for guests. This was a really nice touch and came in very handy. There are also beach towels available for guests to use.

All in all we throughly enjoyed our stay, would stay here again and highly recommend it.

After a couple nights upcountry, my boyfriend and I spent two nights in the Hibiscus room at the Old Wailuku Inn. The downstairs room is a bit dark and the lanai overlooks the parking lot, but it was still nice to have an outdoor space and get some light. The upstairs lanai over the garden and living room are also open for guests to use. Since the room is downstairs and just down the hall from the main entrance, we could hear the people upstairs and in the hallway, but it wasn't too bad. I would recommend a room in the separate building; we saw the Plumeria room, which seemed really nice. This was my first trip to Maui, and Wailuku is very centrally located. Breakfast is served at 8 am according to a daily menu. We were there for the breakfast enchilada and the French toast. Fruit is served first, and there also is juice, coffee, and tea. There is a refrigerator for guests' use, cold drinks and snacks available throughout the day, and plenty of big beach towels and umbrellas.

Nicely maintained bed and breakfast in Wailuku. Quiet and off the beaten path yet close to everything. Very nice host, Janice, who put together a good breakfast and was really helpful with all sorts of questions we had. Really pretty gardens and grounds. Rooms were charming with beautiful quilts.

A few things that were not for us but might not bother others ...... Our room had a bathroom door made of open type slats. Zero sound proofing. And the room was very small. Bath/shower was in the room in full view, not in the bathroom. In all, lacking in privacy on a couple of counts for us. We thought the room had outside access but you had to leave the room, go down the hall and outside of the locked building door for outside seating. And last, breakfast is at one large table with all of the other guests. No private tables. Like a cruise ship. This is probably a plus for many people, so I will just say it is a matter of personal taste.

In all, a lovely place with great hosts. Others staying there seemed to love it and some were repeat visitors. During our visit, the average age was 60+ with a few exceptions. So I think if you are older and like meeting new people when you travel and enjoy a charming place to stay, this would be a great place for you.

Room Tip: Don't choose the Ilima room if you value privacy or want some room to stretch out in.

Aloha Ric and Deborah

Thanks for taking the time to rate our Bed and Breakfast Inn. We are sorry you did not like the Ilima Room. The room you choose has always been our Honeymoon Suite with the Tub in the room. This is by no means indicative of room size or bathroom configuration of the remaining 9 rooms at the Old Wailuku Inn. It's bath is unique. The whirlpool tub in the room is clearly depicted on our website for all to see.
The week you stayed with us we did have a proponderance of Mature guests. Some weeks we have all newlyweds. Sometimes we have mostly local Islanders or inter-Island Business travelers. Most of the time we have a nice blend of all types which really is conducive to great conversations and much sharing of useful information. Often many stay after breakfast for an hour or two chatting and many friendships are forged.
We do have the option on request to arrange for a quiet table for two on the Lanai.
We look forward to to the opportunity to serve you again.

Whenever I travel to Maui for Business I'd stay at the Wailuku Inn. This has been going on for a few years. I've even brought my spouse with me because I kept raving about it so much. It is private. It is very comfortable. Location is extremely convenient. Breakfast -as well as the early continental breakfast because of my work- is the icing on the cake. Delicious and 'extravagant'!
After all this time I decided to write a review -before doing so I read the not-so-positive ones and have to believe them as freak exceptions. Not sure how anyone would be disappointed. However, I'm one for privacy so I'm not waiting to get into a deep social conversation with the owners. I just know if there's something I need, I call the phone extension and I'm serviced.
