“A dissapointment”
Reviewed July 16, 2011

With the maalea harbor under construction to upgrade some of the docks, the pride of Maui has made little effort to help ease the inconvenience caused by the construction. The check in area was hidden down a dead end street with a folding table and signage camouflaged behind a row of parked cars. The parking up at the lot by the Maui ocean center was a good 300 hundred yard walk in the afternoon heat with no shuttle service provided. There was no welcome aboard photos and the captain changed the dive spot at the last minute due to choppy waters. This meant we never went to molokini and the alternate dive spot was lame. With only 41 passengers aboard it's easy to see there is little "pride" left in this snorkle excursion.

“Great Snorkeling! Good Food! Best Value that we could find.”
Reviewed July 7, 2011

The boat was large, and easily accomodated all the patrons. The crew was very polite, and helpful. If you need anything, just ask.
When you get onto the boat, they had a good assortment of muffins and fresh fruit (and coffee and water).
No need to bring any snorkeling gear. However, if you have a thick swimshirt (like the surfers wear), it will help keep you warm in the water. If you don't have one, and feel you need one, you can rent one on the boat for $10. Two of my three children needed to rent them as they got cold after 20 minutes in the water. Most adults didn't need to wear one.
Bring Sunscreen!!!
The trip to Molokini was amazing. Crystal Clear water!!! We could easily see everything on the ocean floor, while floating at the top (30 feet deep water).
Getting into the water was very easy. They have a spot to sit, put on your fins, and slip into the water. Very simple.
They make burgers and chicken in-between stops. Burgers were great!
The trip to 'Turtle Town' was a little disappointing. Only a few people got to see turtles while in the water. Ironically, I didn't see any turtles while in the water, but when I got back on the boat, I saw 3 turtles swimming nearby. I felt like a kid when I saw them.
After turtle town, you make the trip back to the dock. They offer free soda, beer, and Mai Tais. Nice way to finish your day of snorkeling.
Overall, it was a great experience. When we go back to Maui, we are definitely going snorkeling with the Pride Of Maui.

“Low energy crew. Not a great trip.”
Reviewed July 1, 2011

I have done a lot of water trips but this one was pretty boring. The crew did not seem very enthusiastic to be there and it seemed to run off on the other patrons. Would not recommend this one at all.

“good trip, super staff!”
Reviewed June 29, 2011

Going to Maui means you have to visit the Molokini Crater for snorkeling. We signed up for the trip through Pleasant Holidays and got a decent price (think we could have done better after the fact).

We arrived on a beautiful morning and the staff was very cool and friendly to everyone. they were helpful, encouraging and engaging.

The boat is large and carries about 100 people. Things were cramped but not overly so.

1st stop Molokini- We did the Snuba- a little less that $50 a person extra- worth it! It was real cool to get that low to the coral and sea life. After Snuba went snorkeling and Molikini was nice

2nd stop Turtle Town- beautiful beach head snorkeling area. Saw what we came to see a few sea turtles in the distance. The kids were stoked as they love sea turtles.

There is a photo guy on board that has what turned out to be a great deal. Buy the package if you want great pictures and memories of the trip. For $75 dollars you get the use of a good underwater camera (he burns all pics to a CD-ROM), he takes lots of pictures of your party both in and out of the water (fish eye lens makes the pictures pop) and he has a dvd you get as well with video of you in and out of the water. We spent $60 on cheap underwater cameras (3) and developing. Wish we would have bought the package.

Breakfast and lunch are decent and the drinks were included

The only reason the trip doesn't get a 5 is the snorkeling of the beach at places like Flemings is better and cheaper that this tour. At Flemings we were so close to the turtles and sea life. More fish there too.

“Turtle Town with 1000 of your closest fans”
Reviewed June 16, 2011

We did the morning trip to Molokai and Turtle town. The boat was great and the staff was awesome - always making sure we were informed of what was going on and kept the drinks flowing after we were done snorkeling!

With that said, I would suggest renting your own snorkel gear and exploring on your own if you've been snorkeling before. There were too many people and the fish weren't anything you couldn't see at Black Rock. I will say it was fun though to see turtles, which is a little harder to do on your own as Turtle Town is only really accessible by boat. If you've never been snorkeling, I would take this tour...if you're experienced and just want to take a boat ride, have some drinks, and check out a different spot, then I'd say go for it!
