Operation was a bit bizarre. You'd find your own seat and then you were told to get back up and go to the counter at the rear of the restaurant to order your food. 20-30 minutes later you'd have to guess if that was your food or not sitting back there on the same counter. Silly and senseless. Place didn't stand a chance and just annoyed customers with those ordering antics.

We weren't sure what the quality would be when we signed up for 6 to have a dinner supporting our local Maui Aids Foundation....4 Course, Prix fixe menu that was generous, beautifully presented in a very friendly and comfortable dining room. Best of all, the food was very flavorful and perfectly prepared.
Apologies were made upon arrival that one of the two appetizer offerings had sold out at the 5:30 seating. The remaining offering was beautifully presented and a delicious cheese/olive/cracker and more plate. Very nice. Salad lovely with sweet onions and sliced, fresh oranges on a bed of very fresh local greens with sliced almonds. There were 3 entrée offerings, though our group only chose 2...the potato spinach torta was absolutely delicious and the fresh catch mahi was delicate and moist. Dessert was either flan or chocolate soufflé...both were delicious, but difficult to finish as each we were all satiated by that time. Service was prompt and friendly and we were able to byob...enjoying a few of our favorite bottles from the cellar. We will definitely go here again and look forward to it.
The only negative, which we find in so many establishments, is the noise level, even when it is not a full dining room. We all 6 enjoyed our meals tremendously.

This restaurant is not far from where I live, so when a lady friend of mine called and told be about their upcoming 'Morocco themed' dinner, it was a go...first off this was a special dinner only for Friday and Saturday nights, as they now have different themed dinners every F/Sat night, first seating at 5.30...

my friend lived in Morocco for some years 'back then' so of course is more than abit familiar with true Moroccan food/style of food...

this dinner was prix fixe at 32usd per and worth easily half that much again. It consisted of four courses:

Starters were, choice of...

Spicy prawns w/fresh lemon (actually were shrimps, not sure what the difference is, there were 3 on the plate), or...

Fried potato cakes with minted yogurt...there were two on the plate, yogurt in a side ramekin...

well seeing as how we were two and they (meaning the starters) were two, we of course just got one of each and shared them...

Ratings:

more than good, okay a shrimp/prawn is just that, really how can you go wrong? but they were nicely seasoned and served w/fresh wedge of lemon...

the potato cakes were soft and fluffy, cooked just right, not oily/greasy, they melted in the mouth...well my mouth at least...ha ha...

Salads were again choice of two. Again we took one of each (both were served w/grilled triangles of pita)...

Beetroot w/cumin over mixed greens...most ono (you know what that means from my past reviews), though we both commented bordering on too vinegary, the dressing...but I liked it, it challenged the wine we had...

Tomato, onion, roasted pepper salad over mixed greens..this one was more 'Mediterranean' in style I thought, fresh and easy on the palette...

after the Salad course we, along with the other diners, were pleasantly surprised with a just right mini bowl of carrot soup w/Moroccan seasonings...very tasty and a nice interlude before the entrees were brought out...oh, also this was presented by Chef Ralph himself...a nice touch...

Entrees...there was a choice of four, so we each got a different one...

my companion opted for the slow baked chicken thighs (boneless/skinless) w/lemon and garlic..

I went for the mahi mahi, w/tomatoes and olives, is all the menu said...well I'm not an olive fan of any sorts and mentioned such to the young lady taking our entree orders...let me check w/Chef Ralph and see...she was back in a flash w/a not a problem at all Sir, the olives are for the most part tossed in at the end for some taste and garnish...and Chef said he'd just leave them out of the mix...

well both plates came with saffron and turmeric couscous, with baked veggies and cooked/stewed prunes...and both were, to say it local style, broke da mouth. I think you can figure that one out...it wasn't just the main protein part of the entree that was ono, it was the entire presentation...very generous with all the components on the plate...I was given a tidbit of the slow cooked chicken and WoW...the lemon and garlic surely did the trick on those thighs...

my mahi mahi was sauteed to perfection and the 'sauce' on top, basically the tomatoes, did the trick just as well...

the other entree choices were Beef Tajine w/ apples and raisins, or the vegetarian entree of spiced, caramelized onions w/chargrilled eggplant and chickpeas...

now the AHHHH part...Dessert...

again two choices so don't have to tell you we took one of each...Sunny went for the sweet almond phyllo coil, while I took the chilled sweet orange and date 'salad' w/mango sorbet...sooo yummmmy...but they forgot to mention, it was ever so lightly drizzled with honey...which made a huge difference in my appreciation of such a simple dessert offering...the phyllo coil was light, airy, abit sweet, and very satisfying...

okay so was it worth it? Are you kidding me? All of the above for 32usd pp? As I said worth easily half that much again. The dinners are BYOB (no corkage charge), but pls, only beer and wine...no hard setups are available...

others have reviewed this place too, so I want to set the record straight here...

as of now, this being 25 Jan. they, at this time, serve dinners only, and only on F/Sat. They no longer serve lunch, however, they may start serving lunches again, but only on Th/F, and there is some talk of some sort of a Sunday morning happening, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that one as the owners of this eatery have a popular and successful catering biz, which of course consumes alot of time and energy, especially on the weekends, so I think a Sunday gig would be abit of a stress/strain on the crew...

Being first time to this joint, I wasn't sure how to order. I wanted veggies and seafood, fresh. i started ordering, and the Chinese lady behind the counter interrupted me and told me i was ordering too much for one person, and she recommended a dish on the menu, and she was right. That $9.50 dish was all i need and can eat, and it's very good! Descent business!

I have been wanting to try the Friday night dinners at Soup to Nuts for a while, just never got around to it. Well the procrastination is over for good! Went with my hubby for the German influence menu, we had amazing food and a great time with the loving service this small establishment gives. The only negatives I have (and they are small) were the young waiter needs training, not because he did a bad job, but because he is not confident and seemed nervous every time he approached the table. As for the food, the pork was slightly over cooked, however the flavor made up for that in spades. We will be going back at least twice a month.
