Fun and attentive crew with Captain Dan. Let my kids help raise the sails. Amazingly clear water for snorkeling!

“Snorkel to Molokini”
Reviewed August 10, 2014

We went on the Four Winds morning snorkel to Molokini on July 9, 2014. The trip was pleasant but I think I would have preferred a smaller boat with more personalized service. There are bathrooms on board which is a nice thing to have. You arrive to breakfast which consists of bagels, spreads, fruit and coffee. There is a bit of nickel and diming on board as you find out that wetsuit tops are a $5 cash charge, and there is also a SNUBA instructor attempting to sign as many people up for SNUBA at the snorkel site, which is a $62 pp charge for about 30 mins in the water. My kids did the SNUBA activity and did really enjoy it. There is also a photographer / videographer who snaps underwater pics of the people in your party and sells that for an additional $50. The CD / DVD included several great underwater shots of our family (and the rest of the snorkelers on the trip) however you do notice that the rest of the shots were "stock" pictures as we did not see any of the marine life shown in the pictures. Molokini itself is dramatic and beautiful, however it is the most popular destination for snorkel boats and therefore not exactly secluded. There were probably 8 or 10 boats at the site with maybe a hundred snorkelers in the water. The reef is very pretty but we were disappointed in the amount of fish we got to see - which was not very many. Lunch is served on board and consists of your choice of hot dog, pulled pork or chicken sandwich, chips and drinks. Also disappointing was the fact that we did not actually "sail" to and from Molokini - the boat was motored both ways - no sails up and no actual "sailing". With all of the snorkel sites in and around Maui, I am inclined to think this is not the best one.

“Wonderful experience”
Reviewed August 4, 2014 via mobile

Had a great time on Fourwindsmaui with Captain Dan. Tour was informational, snorkeling was decent, staff was exceptional, food was tasty and plentiful. We even saved some struggling swimmers from another boat! Highly recommend this Molokini snorkel trip.

We enjoyed a wonderful day of fun and snorkeling. Great staff, we did the early morning trip to Molokini and it was a blast. Capt Dan, gave us the local history, knowledge of sea life, and formation of the Islands. The crew kept us supplied with water, soft drinks, beer and a wonderful lunch. The trip was priced right and if you contact them directly you save $10 pp. We did the snuba dive with Jamie, my wife was a little nervous but soon became calm as the instructor did an outstanding job of pre dive information. We rated the snuba as one of the best things we did while on our 11 day trip to the island....this was a great value ..

“Must do!”
Reviewed August 1, 2014

Our family did the afternoon trip from 1-5pm and the conditions were such that day that we got to go to Molokini. Wonderful experience!! Great professional staff, went above and beyond on customer service - bringing drinks and snorkel equipment to us sitting down (great for those who don't move around so well on a moving boat!). Our only complaint was that we didn't leave the dock until 1:30 - wish we could've checked in earlier to actually be leaving the dock at 1:00 - would allow more snorkel time (we had one hour to snorkel). Best burger I had on the trip was on Four Winds! My son loved the slide off the boat - did it about 4 times! We were happy to have gotten the wet suits for $5 each - well worth it to stay warmer in the water. We have done Trilogy tour twice in the past and went with this with our son - won't go anywhere else in the future - Four Winds exceeded our expectations and was much more cost effective. GREAT trip - a must do for families while in Maui.
