Northshore Hostel Maui
Certificate of Excellence

Very nice Hostel. I felt safe, the place was clean, and there was infinite free coffee and free pancakes in the morning. The local fruit on Maui is amazing, and combines perfectly with pancake batter. I would and will stay here again.

Room Tip: Reserve in advance to get a good room, they are listed on the website.

Great hostel! Super clean, nice and spacious bathrooms, unlike most hostels the dorms aren't smelly, quiet but great vibe amongst the guests, friendly staff. There is a book available with all the information you need to know about the island. Definitely recommended!

We enjoyed to stay one night in a private room, in August 31. The staff at the hostel is friendly and helpful. The room, kitchen, everything is really clean! And it is a quiet place. The parking is close and free. Great to have pancakes in the morning!

I've stayed in many hostels; few compare to Northshore in terms of cleanliness and overall quality of facility. I stayed for a week in August 2013. The hostel was mostly populated by international travelers, although it had a few 'resident characters' who seemed to be there for other reasons. The town of Wailuku doesn't really have much to offer, so having transportation (car, moped) is, I think, a must. The crew are very helpful, friendly, chill, and maintain a great vibe. Loved it - definitely recommend to those who are interested in meeting other travelers in a non-party, low-key atmosphere.

The *only* negatives I can mention about the hostel are (1) that it is situated on a rather busy street, so expect quite a lot of early morning street noise, and (2) that the parking lot across the street seems to harbor a fair share of strange-goings-on, but nothing dangerous or criminal that I saw. These are extremely minor negatives in comparison to the wealth of positives that Northshore has to offer.

If you're not going to rent a car, I recommend looking into a scooter rental (the staff at the hostel can help you sort this) - it was a fantastic way to get around the island!

What a great hostel - the best of all the hostels I've stayed in Hawaii! Excellent faciities, scrupulous cleanliness, extremely helpful and kind staff. Nice to see building is being well maintained, and excellent location for easy driving to attractions, and plenty of parking.

Excellent perks of FREE international and local calls, wifi, yummy sweet n' simple DIY pancakes for brekkie and as much free tea and coffee you can drink. Convenient fiid, drinks and snacks to buy onsite if you're too lazy after beach bumming all day to walk to the nearby shops. Very civilised and relaxed atmosphere.
