We flew into Maui too early to check into our hotel, saw that this park was very close to the airport and decided to visit. Driving up through the valley was beautiful. Wild chickens all over the place. The scents from the flowers, the lush fauna, the stream was breathtaking. Parking was 5$, easy paved trails to follow, great signs explaining the history of the place was a nice feature. You are literally up in the clouds. We flew over it in a helicopter ride later during our visitors but it's best seen on foot.

We took a drive after we landed in Maui. It wasn't that far and a beautiful drive. We parked on the side of the road so we didn't pay for parking. The park isn't that big but the views are beautiful of the needle and you can walk down by the river. The couple trails are a bit steep but not that long.

You won't be disappointed, particularly if you are a photography buff. The attraction is located about twenty minutes from Kahului. There are a number of trails to follow, a restroom, available parking and a small fee for the upkeep of the park. Below the park on the drive up is the Japanese Gardens well worth seeing and free.

Costs a 5-10dollars to park here but well worth it. Great views of the Iao Needle and the other lush, green mountains of the interior of west Maui. A couple of fun, short hiking trails - none are really longer than 10 minutes or so. Beautiful scenery, beautiful views down the valley back to central Maui. Very much worth spending an hour here, one of the more beautiful sights we saw on Maui.
