I have been traveling to Maui for years and every couple of years I need to slow things down, enjoy the sheer beauty of the island and I head here. You can hike, swim and enjoy Maui as it used to be. Lush, quite and beautiful. It is very easy to get to and well marked with lots of parking. Take the family, or just your spouse and get away and relax. Spend time here, your body and soul will thank you for it.

The toilets out of order; lots of bus tours; limited access; no nearby place to get refreshments; few explanations of what everything was about.

Iao Valley gives you the opportunity to experience Maui before tourism. The trails are paved and the elevation is accomplished with stairs. The trails were easy. The sound of rushing water was relaxing and the views were spectacular. We did not have children with us, but it seemed the children who were there were truly enjoying it. We saw a couple of older children even swing in the stream’s pool. Ample parking and toilet facilities are available. The cost is $5 per car. Some people parked outside the park to avoid the $5 fee. It is fee for Hawaii residents.

You need to take a short easy 5 minute hike on a paved path and walk a few steps to get the best view of this instantly recognizable and iconic natural feature-- every jungle or desert island film or TV show seems to use it as a backdrop. We went in the rain and were treated to roaring stream and waterfalls so don't let weather stop you. Just a few minutes from airport and Hana Highway

The park has wide variety of trees and plants. Great place for nature lovers. We reached there in the evening when the Sun was setting on the needle and the trees. It was a spectacular sight. We walked up to see the needle. The path is well paved and park is very clean. There is a beautiful stream. We saw people enjoying the stream. Walk through the forest /park to enjoy the various species of trees and plants. View the beautiful water falls flowing from the top of the mountains. If you have time go to hiking trails. All small ones but very enjoyable.
