“Educational and informative aquarium”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

It's a small enough aquarium that small children will enjoy it without being bored. They have naturalist that give hands on tour of the different areas of the aquarium. We ran into one group that had the opportunity to feed the sea turtles.
You learn quite a bit about reef fish and it is actually quite beautiful to see the colorful fish. We could easily spend 20-30 minutes inside the shark tunnel. The shark tunnel was one of the highlights of our visit.
You can easily spend a couple of hours here and be able to see everything.

“Good Way to see Fish of Hawaii”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

This aquarium is certainly not as big as the major ones like Atlanta, but the primary purpose of our visit was to see fish of the islands and learn about the reef environment and what we would see during our snorkeling trips. The main display building was well laid out in that the shallow, middle and deep reef displays showcase what lived where. Many of these fish are found nowhere else. The organization and explanations given achieved our goal of learning about the fish. I liked the frogfish specifically and, of course the state fish, the humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa which is both gorgeous and fun to say. And I was able to see 3 of them when snorkeling later in the week so the visit was helpful. Would have given 5 stars but the price was set at $25 which is pricey for 2 but difficult for families.

“Amazing & Informative!”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

First the naturalists there gives you a complete insight(s) on the sea life at the aquarium. For non-snorkelers and snorkelers, you can see what you may, or may not experience upclose.
The tunnel was the best! A huge sting ray passing right over you head with INCHES! Or a way to hammerhead shark within a foot!
This is a must do when on Maui, and a great way to be able to identify sea life forms once you do snorkel.

“Check it out to know what swims in the island waters.”

Unvisited the OC as apart of a bus tour. Very will designed with displays showing what swims in the island waters. Get the recorded tour device to fully appreciate each and every display.
