Our group was picked up at 2:30 a.m. We were taken to the top of the crater for sunrise. Worth the early hour. Brian our driver and Julio our guide did a great job. Both were safety minded and organized. I was unable to ride the bike but had a fun and informative tour in the van with Brian. Julio kept the bike group together and on time. Great day for all.

4 of us had a wonderful experience on Oct 29 doing the sunrise bike ride. We were picked up at our hotel @2:30...truly not that bad especially since we were still on mainland time, After filling in the forms we were given windbreakers..jacket and pants and gloves. Very nice and necessary. We were driven up to the top of the volcano in plenty of time to witness the unbelievable sunrise. We then were driven down a bit where we started to bike. You do very little pedaling..mainly coast. Our guide Julio and driver Brian could not have been more helpful and pleasant. One in our party did not bike but rode down the mountain with Brian who was so informative on the area. She learned a lot. We stopped partway down for breakfast and bathroom. We ended up in Paia. It truly was awesome. We were back at our hotel by 11:30..in time for a short nap. Natalie from Mn

Overall, the experience was very good, considering we didn't get to start at the summit because of the fact that the national park was closed, due to the government shutdown. Instead, we started at 6,500 feet, not the summit. Mark and Julio were excellent guides, and were very knowledgeable about the ride itself, the island and the neighboring areas leading up to the top. Mark was very patient and enthusiastic through out the entire day. Julio was also very good as the "anchor" following us down, and was also good about sharing the spirit of "Aloha." Mark made everyone feel comfortable regardless of their level of riding. Whether an experienced rider or someone who hasn't been a bike in years, you will enjoy this trip. When will you get to cruise for 28 miles, with very little pedaling. Riding with Julio in the rear (van) made everyone feel comfortable and safe - only occasionally did we have to even ride in the bike lane. Mostly the entire ride we were in the car lanes, cruising.

I highly recommend this tour, especially now that the national park has re-opened. Next time we're in Maui, we'll definitely do this tour again, and hopefully get Mark and Julio as guides.

Scott and Jay were excellent guides. Informative and fun, made the trip great. We booked the sunrise tour but the national parks were closed. Instead of being picked up at 2am, we were confirmed for 5am. We asked if we would still see the sunrise, which is what we were paying for and were assured we would. By the time we got to the top of the hill the sun was up and we missed it all together. We still paid for the 10 hours but were done in about 5. We only made it up to the 6,000 foot level instead of the 10,000+. Not the fault of the company that the park was closed, but we were not told in advance that the trip would be cut short or changed. It was an amazing journey down the hill. It would have been nice since we had extra time to stop at some of the points of interest talked about on the way up. maybe that would have made up for the shorter trip and missing the sunrise on the sunrise tour. It would have been a 4 or 5 star rating for the trip itself, but like I said, we felt a little ripped off.

Alison and I did a volcano sunrise tour and bike ride down the mountain on Maui with Mark Brizzi and Julio in late August 2013. The guys were fantastic and really made the day, we had a lot of fun and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Professional outfit that put safety first...highly recommended
