“Classic Hawaiiana”
Reviewed October 21, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

My family was traveling to Maui to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary, as they meet on Maui in 1976, we felt it appropriate to re-visit where it all began. We wanted a property that would afford us some togetherness, yet privacy for each individual couple. We got that here, 4 bedrooms with 3 baths for 3 couples.
Firstly the house was immaculate when we arrived. It was hot, but with the highest energy rates in the country & unknowing when guests would arrive, I understand them not wanting to leave A/C units on all the time. We opened the windows, let the WONDERFUL trade winds in, & had things comfy very shortly. Each bedroom has an A/C unit, if you shut the room doors, they cool things off in minutes. Secondly, this house is beyond stocked. Closets full of towels, sheets, pillows, beach towels. The kitchen has everything you may need. There are even the basics for cooking (salt, pepper, garlic, mayo, mustard, soy sauce, ice) this is wonderful....too many times upon arriving at a rental I find myself buying stuff & only end up using about 10% of it. This saved us a ton of money on groceries.
Thirdly, the backyard! Ah, the porch, the view, the spa......just perfect. Another reason why it doesn't matter if the house is hot....who goes to Hawaii to hang out indoors?! We spent much of the time when we were at the house in the backyard. There are benches, lots of chairs, 2 tables. You can lay out, recline, eat al-fresco, sit in the spa & enjoy the sunset and the amazing view of Kahului & Wailuku at nite.
The house was built in 1950, & it still shows some of that. But more in a way that reminds me of my grandma's house as opposed to being old, tired & dirty, because it isn't. The original tiled baths are cool in their "vintage-ness", they function & they are clean. Same with the kitchen. The house also has 2 fridges, washer & dryer & plenty of beach gear.
Finally, this house is near the airport. In turn, you do get take-off & landing noise. It is not a constant, and after a day or too we didn't hear it anymore.
The TV works (we only turned it on to watch a Kings game.....cause again, who goes on vacation to watch TV?!?!) And the Wi-Fi worked great too.
We liked this house a lot. It was in a great location & served all of our needs. Thanks Donna!
