By far the best place to eat/visit in Maui!!! Make a reservation!! On the beach beautiful view but by far the best meal and the freshest fish on the Island!! From appetizer to dessert we could lick our plates. A great history of this place too. The service was outstanding! Mama's was worth every cent!! Don't miss it!

Came here for both lunch and dinner. Book in advance for convenience and to avoid the early evening rush of diners coming in around 6 PM. Service is excellent, waiters offer recommendations and personal favorites for those unsure of what to choose from the daily menu. Both the drinks (mixes are offered in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and food are great, especially the seafood. Love the complementary peppercorn bread and daily soup cup. Wasabi-crusted Calamari and the Shashimi is a must, Kula Pig is also a great choice, but anything on the menu is great. Save room for dessert, go for the toffee chocolate cake or the "Black-Pearl" custard, they're the best on the menu if they are offered. Try the Kona Coffee, french pressed to your serving depending on how much you order.

Try and get a table facing the view of the beach and surrounding waves if you come for lunch, the fresh air and sunshine really make a difference when dining. The atmosphere, welcoming staff, and excellent cuisine (which changes daily, especially the fish collection), makes this a place to come back to anytime.

We'd been told by several people that we would love Mama's, and we did! First of all, make your reservations as early as possible - Mama's is a busy place, deservedly so. But as busy as it is, you will not feel rushed - you will have plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the delicious meal. The menu is new each day and is based on what the fishermen have caught that day; an interesting touch - each fish item on the menu includes where it was caught and by whom. Our server was knowledgeable and very helpful to us in making our selections. Each course was superb, and we were able to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. It was a special evening that we will long remember.

We've eaten at only a few restaurants in Maui, but this was certainly the best. Mama's is a large restaurant: three dozen people handle the cooking and serving (and more do the valet parking and the greeting...), but it doesn't feel anonymous or cafeteria-like. The food was excellent on both occasions we visited - once for lunch and once for dinner - fresh, inventive and well-presented. For the price, that's what one should expect; Mama's is expensive, and in a five week trip to Maui, Australia and New Zealand this was by far the priciest place we ate at. Mama's offers value for money only if you are happy to pay a bit extra for the experience, but the food is great, and by all accounts it's one of the best restaurants on Maui; for a special occasion (or for a couple of them) it's well worth the expense.
