The Paia Inn, located directly in the middle of Paia on the North Shore of Maui is a perfect place to stay when in the area. The rooms are excellent (we were upgraded to #6 - a one bedroom suite with full kitchen and back porch area), the service is fantastic, and the beaches nearby are amazing. There is a private path that leads to the beach from the Inn - they provide chairs, towels, beach equipment, etc. Just a note - the waves in North Maui can be ROUGH, so be careful.

The town of Paia is a nice little town with a strong surfing / laid back feel to it. Some nice restaurants, shops, etc - all within easy walking distance of the Paia Inn. Our favorite attraction was Ho'okipa beach, where you can see people surfing the biggest waves I've ever seen. It's about a 2-3 mile drive from the Paia Inn. The inn provides free parking which is also a great bonus.

Overall, if you're going to Paia for surfing, hitting the road to Hana, or just want to check out a town that's a little different from much of the rest of Maui, then you can't go wrong staying at the Paia Inn. We will definitely be back.

We chose the Paia Inn because of its proximity to the airport and the convenience when arriving so late in Maui. The hotel and the town of Paia far exceeded our expectations. Both are small and quaint, unlike Wailea or Kaanapali, and not as remote as Hana. We had reserved a 2 bedroom but the day before we were told we would be upgraded to the 3 bedroom. The staff was very friendly at check in. The room was basically a 3 bedroom apartment. It was very clean with a full kitchen and living room. A large balcony/porch wrapped around the whole unit and could be accessed from the bedrooms as well. Our unit was not directly beachfront although we could see and hear the ocean from the porch. A short walkway took us to the beach and the hotel provided chairs. Fresh coffee and muffins from the coffee house across the street were set out in the morning on the patio next to the front desk. For its size, the town has many shops and restaurants. I would recommend the Paia Inn to anyone wanting a less crowded option in Maui. We will definitely come back.

We went to the Inn directly from the airport. We were immediately and graciously greeted and upgraded to the most fantastic living area in this one of a kind, truly Hawaiian Inn. We stayed in the Veranda suite which was immaculate and perfect for a family of 4 with two small girls aged 10 and 4. There was very close access to a beautiful beach with the Inn supplying any and all accoutrements.

We learned about the Paia Inn from its internet site. We were very nervous as we had no direct knowledge or even indirect knowledge of the Inn. We were taken aback by the service, the beauty of the suite and the town. Everyone gets those moments on holiday that are sublime, moments that are always treasured, but they are few and far between. The Paia Inn will always be, for me and my family, one of those moments. We had extreme romance, loads of family fun and one of a kind experiences all because of the Paia Inn.

I must apologize for not writing sooner. It was selfish. This place is one of those pearls that you wish you could have for your own. However, like a good wine, it should be shared. For any traveler to Maui, a stay at the Paia Inn should not be missed.

We hate resorts - seriously loathe them - but we wanted to visit Hawaii, specifically Maui. Sadly Hawaii is lacking the kind of "boutique" hotels we aim to visit when traveling. That is, with one distinct exception.

The Paia Inn is so cozy, so beach-y, so Maui, yet so modern and so clean in all the right ways.

The staff is excellent, and sweet, and accommodating. Especially Carly, who we loved.

We encourage anyone visiting Hawaii to stay at least a couple of nights in Paia at the Inn.

Go on, give smaller a try!
