Waking up 2am to make it to the shop and prep for the ride up the volcano did not sound ideal at first. But once we experienced the amazing sunrise on Haleakala we new it would be something we would never forget. The bike ride down was just as memorable. At one point we stopped, removed our helmets and just listened to the sound of nothing. It was completely silent . . . so peaceful. We stopped by a lodge like restaurant which had the most delicious smoked applewood bacon (and breakfast of course). We still talk about it.
