We stopped at the lodge for breakfast a little bit further up when biking down Haleakala. But as we came into Makawao other people said you must stop and try this place. So we went in and purchased some goodies for later. We had the stick doughnuts and Malasadas with guava filling! I think we had an apple filled doughnut too. All were amazing! Definitely best fresh the day of, but the apple doughnut was still yummy the next morning. It's been almost a year and we still talk about this, place, the baked goods were better than most of the ones we had in europe this past month.

Get the rolls for your group and a couple to hide for later. Donuts on a stick? Who woulda thunk? And the filled long johns. Ohhhh I have had dreams about their product. Keep an open mind about the building and interior. Think about a disorganized garage.

The building is deceptive in it's abilility to hide the best donuts and long johns around. Seriously, get there early for the best selection. Can't pass up their donuts on a stick.

Who'd have thought that little store would have some rockin' pastries? The cream puffs and Portuguese donuts were great. If you want something with a little less sugar, try the adzuki bean paste-filled donut. Very interesting.
