“Super Generic Food Quality!”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Simply gross! The lady at the table next to me summed it up perfectly when she said the food was like leftovers from Taco Bell. The Margaritas were extremely over priced and very weak, I wouldn't doubt that the tequila to make these things was watered down. The prices for the crappy food is so ridiculously high. The Burrito was cold in the middle. They actually have chicken dino nuggest from Costco on the menu. Gross! The only thing that was remotely well done were the fresh chips that were sprinkled in amongst the cheap ones. The chips that are not fresh were stale and tasted like something you might get from Aldi's. The waitress was pretty ridiculous too. She was wearing a tank top and reaching over people to give them their food all the while introducing her arm pits to unsuspecting faces. The table cloth was sticky and gross. The pics on the walls were dusty and crooked. C'mon man, you can do so much better than this! Super Generic Food Quality!!!

“A trip to Maui needs a trip to Polli's”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

Every year we go to Maui and every trip we find our way to Pollis at least 2-3 times. Their Fish Tacos can't be beat. Service is great, and the prices are reasonable. We love their slogan "If you don't eat here we'll both starve!!" Pollis is a perfect Makawao stop when touring the high country botanical gardens and Haleakala Crater. When you finish eating here, walk across the street to the general store and pick up a 1/2 dozen cream-puffs to take back to your condo (each one weighs about a pound.... awesome. Go early, they sell out fast every day)

“Fresh ingredients, great salads, burritos, salsa”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

We have been to Polli's in the past and it has never disappointed us. We have not ordered anything, but vegetarian type foods (beans and salads), so I cannot say anything about meat/chicken. We really enjoy the tasty burritos, tacos, and salads. They even have some other vegetarian offerings. All the ingredients are super fresh. We usually eat here on the way to Haleakala or if it is one of those rainy days in Maui. The pricing is super reasonable and service is great.

“In a word - AWFUL”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

The waitress said the BBQ chicken was awsome - at least I thought that's what she said, but on second thought she must have muttered awful. A half chicken boiled and then slathered with some sort of discount store bottled BBQ sauce. The wife's burrito was almost as bad; apparantly there are no Mexican spices to be found in all of Maui because these had sage as a main ingredient. (maybe they were thinking sagebrush since Makawao is the Cowboy Capital of Hawaii - they had some serious cowboys in this cattle ranch area not too many years ago) Best part of the meal was the Lemonade and the locally brewed Maui beer. Go hungry before you go to Polli's, or go on down the street to the Rodeo Market and get a sandwich that didn't sell at lunch -- it will be way better tasting and way better for you. Run away, run fast!
