Description: Often rated Best Italian restaurant in the State of Hawaii, Casanova is a staple of the lifestyle of Upcountry Maui since 1986. From early morning breakfast thru lunch and dinner and to late night clubbing and dancing on selected nights of the week, Casanova is the ritual destination of Maui residents and of visitors on their way back from Haleakala Crater. The Casanova experience is much more than its awards winning sumptuous authentic Italian cuisine. It's meeting and mingling with Maui folks in the very spot where they like to dine, meet and mingle. A must do when in Upcountry Maui.

“Wow what a great lunch!”

Donna was a super waitress! I was dreaming of the Spinach Salad on the menu by the door, and when I asked where it was on the lunch menu she said it was normally a supper salad. She made it happen for lunch though :) The salad had candied walnuts, eggs, mandarin sections, mushrooms and mild, creamy goat cheese! The calamari was lightly done and tasty too! This and a bit of focaccia bread with balsamic and olive oil- oh boy what a taste treat! Worth a second trip here in the future!

Just visited this restaurant.we got there early 6pm, was fairly empty. the waitress must have been new as she did not understand pretty much anything on service and just looked pretty. more training for sure on their employees. however, with that said, the food was very good, large portions, fairly priced and will return again.

“Lovely lunch in Makawao”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

If you have a chance to visit Makawao on your trip to Maui, drop in and visit this little gem of a pub. My sister and I split one of the large salads and had a cool beer overlooking the main street. The service was attentive and quick. This is feels like your typical pub, but the windows make it sunny and bright. Makawao is such a cute little artist town with so many good quality galleries.

I have lived on Maui for almost 40 years and have eaten at Casanova restaurant many times. The building has gone through many incarnations. In fact, in wilder times over 35 years ago, drunken Hawaiian cowboys(paniolos) occasionally rode their horses right up to the bar. On weekends Casanova's can be noisy(make reservations) but the food is so delicious. From the moment one walks inside the smells of the bread baking wake up the taste buds. They have a stone oven and bake their own rosemary foccacia bread which they serve warm straight out of the oven with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The wait staff are experienced and excellent, there are ample choices(I love the eggplant parmesan for an appetizer), lots of inventive salads, and lots of pasta choices. I almost always order the fish special and they have several preparations and it is always perfectly prepared. And for dessert they have the very best tiramisu on the island of Maui. In fact we are going there tonight; mmmmm can't wait!

“Very good lunch”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Stopped in here for lunch last week, we all ordered different sandwiches off of the menu.

All were excellent and one of our best lunches of the trip! As stated in previous reviews, the focaccia bread is fantastic.

Service was great and food is good and affordable. We will return.
