Tucked away in Maliko, this gem is like a breath of fresh air. A sanctuary that you can walk through and admire or spend some time there in meditation. They have two labyrinths, one inside and one outside. My favorite part was the "Mother" room. A quiet comptemplative room dedicated to the goddess in everyone.
Beautiful plants and flowers to entrance you. An awesome teak wood Buddha that just begs you to sit next to and zen out.
Bathroom on site. Wonderful gift shop. Be prepared to spend awhile here in this little piece of paradise in paradise. Do yourself a favor, if the friendly hostess offers you some mosquito repellent, take it. ;)

This peaceful garden in a rainforest setting near Makawao was an unexpected find on our drive up Baldwin Ave. from nearby Paia. The drive itself is worth doing as the landscape near Makawao is rolling and green and usually full of rainbows! Its worth seeing the less sandy and sunny side of Maui for sure.

Once you arrive at the garden, the peaceful vibe will envelope you and you are welcome to begin walking the labyrinths which is the ultimate go-within, spiritual experience! The folks here are very low key and helpful in a laid back manner. We explored the entire green house -- filled with tropicals and succulents which are potted up in unique ways. Along the way you'll see ceramic masks, prayer flags, beautiful sounding wind chimes and lots of interesting garden art.

The gift shop offers all manner of mementos to remind you of time spent in this peaceful place -- many things that are small and will travel easily (talismans like stones with engraved words, lovely lotus-like candle holders, rainbow colored wind "wings", etc).

The 2 dogs we saw were large, but very peaceful and one named Poe watched over the larger labyrinth and seems to enjoy the good energy emanating from there!

It was our first time at this garden and I was so happy we saw the sign out at Baldwin Ave. directing us to turn left down the road to the garden. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful Sunday afternoon -- we'd already heard whales singing while snorkeling on the south shore, so what better way to end that experience than with a walk through a peaceful labyrinth?

We have been to Maui many times but this was our first visit the these incredible gardens. We went back 2 more times during our stay. The gardens would be a draw in themselves but combined with all the nature surrounding them, the motivational signs and bookstore and gift shop make this a not to be missed part of any trip to Maui. The energy was so wonderful that we can't wait to go back!

I highly recommend the Sacred Garden of Maliko. My sweetheart and I stayed four nights here. The owner Eve is a wonderful, warm, wise and welcoming woman. We stayed in the private cottage on site which was perfect for us! It is fully furnished with two bedrooms, kitchen, living room and private bathroom and was relaxing and comfortable. The property is located on the edge of the rain forest and has many fruit trees as well as a huge green house. On site is the green house, small gift store and a walking Labyrinth which are all open to the public. Before arriving we were in touch with Eve and were able to personally customize our stay maximizing the benefits of what we were seeking. We had our yoga instructor (Sally) come right to our cottage each morning for personalized yoga instruction. This was great for us beginners! We also had an intuitive reader, meditation instructor and massage therapists come to our cottage for private sessions. After our sessions in the cottage we met up with Eve in her cozy space inside the greenhouse for private relationship enhancing sessions. WOW, WOW, WOW! This was my favorite part of it all. The tools we learned and took away from these sessions with Eve have brought both of us to a much deeper level in our relationship as well as us on our own personal “spiritual journeys”. I just can’t say enough about it. The experience was earthy, laid back, authentic and moving. Another powerful part of this stay was an introduction to the Labyrinth – neither of us had ever heard of one before but we were open to the whole experience and whatever we could take in. Eve explained the Labyrinth and the purpose of it and gave us instruction as well as some very good personal homework that we were both eager to complete. I won’t get into the details of it but let’s just say if you have the opportunity; it’s one you won’t want to pass up!
