“Perfect for us!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

My husband and I just returned today from a family vacation at HC, which included our 3 teenagers. A wonderful place with the right balance of relaxation and plenty to do in the area. The cove and grounds are beautiful, and the help was always ready with a smile when needed. I read some reviews which stated that HC is not child friendly, but we and families there with younger children all had a great time. If HC doesn't allow Marco Polo in the pool and running loudly around the lawn throwing footballs and frisbees, then it wins my vote! We look forward to returning again as soon as possible! BTW, I had my lively kids make the short walk to Napili for horseplay and noise. Best of both worlds.

We just returned from 2 weeks at Honokeana Cove. We have stayed here many times over the last decade. Both of us love the oceanfront condos right on the water. We stayed in 108 this year and have no complaints. Unit was clean and had a new big screen TV if you can find the time to watch it. Only a couple of minutes from Kapalua, 10 minutes to Kaanapali and 20 minutes to Lahaina. If you like the West side of Maui you need to consider staying here.

Snorkeling right outside your door in the cove was great this year. More turtles than in the past and many fish to be seen as well. Even nice big parrot fish were everywhere. We could not snorkel without seeing at least a dozen different turtles and I have the pictures to prove it. When the surf got up we could watch surfers from the lanai of our unit.

The cove is a special place that offers peace and tranquility on a large scale. It is easy to relax and enjoy the beauty and Aloha spirit of Maui. Not far from several beaches and you can walk to Napili Beach. Close to shopping and dining but with the kitchen and BBQ grills we did not always eat out. It is tough to beat eating oceanside on the lanai of your condo.

Both ladies in the rental office were very helpful and professional. Our reservation was handled without a problem and they were a source for local information. The on site resident manager is friendly and great to have around. The property was in good shape after the work done last year and the new gates are nice and do the job.

Both of us can not wait to return to Honkeana Cove our home away from home in Maui!

Aloha

Room Tip: Lower unit Lanais have an exit to the grounds allowing for a very short walk to the ocean. Upstair u...

I almost hate to write this. Next trip it may be harder to find a condo.

We have been to Honokeana 5 or 6 times. We brought 8 family members with us just this year. There is a reason we moved our allegiance from other Maui venues to HC: the snorkeling is wonderful, the turtles abundant, the staff delightful and the condos quiet and intimate. And, if you want a waterfront condo, I suspect the prices are hard to beat.

Sure, snorkeling is better 3 miles up the road at Honolua Bay, but that's a marine preserve. Or 6 miles down at Black Rock, but then you are one of the innumerable swimming masses. But that's splitting hairs because all you have to do at Honokeana is walk out of your condo door. Bingo! Water, coral, turtles, fish. Easy walking distance to world class beaches (spoiler alert: Honokeana is a rocky cove, so lay on the grass or chairs if you need to stretch out), the Napili Plaza, eating spots and snorkel rental.

We have visited Honokeana Cove multiple times since 2007. We have traveled as a couple or with groups, when we rented several units. During our recent stay, in October 2013, we were delighted to see the many upgrades to the buildings and grounds. Snorkeling in the cove and the peaceful nature of the location make it one amazing place to stay. L and V

This is an excellent location for exploring the area near Lahaina, especially if you like to snorkel, as the cove is just steps from your patio. Each condo is unique, and some are more recently updated than others, so check the videos of each one before booking. The only drawback is the condos nearest the street are noisy at night, as there is some truck traffic along the road. Had to keep the window shut. There is a grocery store just up the street, along with a few restaurants and a dive/snorkel rental shop. (What else do you need for a Hawaiian vacation?) Overall we liked this spot and are likely to go back.

Honokeana Cove is one of those little hidden gems in life that when you find them they massage your senses. You quickly succomb to Polynesian parallysis as you gaze out over the beautiful blue Pacific and the cove which is full of undersea wonders. Green Sea Turtles abound along with all the tropical fish you would find in an aquarium. The amenities are perfect for that ocean front BBQ or cooking in the kitchen of the well appointed units. Su Campos, the manager, and her staff make sure that your stay is hassle free with lots of the Aloha Spirit. If you want a genuine Hawaiian experience, Honokeana Cove is the place to stay!

Room Tip: Units along the south side get less direct late afternoon sun.

After reading some of the reviews, it's hard to come up with something different, but I'll give it a shot. I don't remember when we started coming to the 'Cove' but we were welcomed by Su as if we were old timers and we still are. Not only by Su, but all the workers are friendly and helpful. They act like they enjoy working here and it shows in the landscaping and the cleanliness of the property. We like to travel light, but then we have to wash clothes and the 'Cove' has great laundry facilities and in each washroom is a small library, plus most of the condo owners have a nice selection of books. The Olympic size pool (just joking) is all that's needed, jump in, cool off and hit the lounges and the sun or shade. So you won't get tired of eating out, there are 3 nice gas fired BBQs to cook at, and have a drink while watching the sun set over Molokai. The condos are all equipped with pots, pans, utensils and dishes to cook most anything you desire. The best thing they have done is to put up a fence with 3 combination gates. This stops people from walking in off the street and using the shower, the pool, the chairs and lounges, which have been a problem in the past. The 'Cove' is close to everything except Hana and Haleakala, but they're a long way from any place on Maui. As for shopping, you have within 12 miles or closer, Safeway, Times and Napili market. Restaurants; The Gazebo at Napili Shores, Mamas Ribs at Napili Plaza, McDonalds at Kahana and there are 2 new ones in the area that haven't opened yet. Come to Honokeana Cove and we'll share our little bit of paradise with you.

Room Tip: All the rooms are ocean front with lanais looking out across the cove to Molokai. We like #114.
