my wife and I just returned from a 2 week stay at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club. Our unit was a 1 bedroom overlooking the main pool area. we were on the 9th floor.

Everything about this resort is first class. Great pool area. The people who work there are super friendly.

My wife and I decided to return to Maui for our honeymoon and since I had Marriott points to use, we stayed at the Maui Ocean Club for six nights. From the time we arrived, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. They even congratulated us on our honeymoon with a card and brought out "Leis of Aloha" for both of us.

We were in the 5th floor of the Napil Tower, which is on the "quieter" end of the resort, with a couple smaller nice pools and a jacuzzi and small bar in front. We spent most of our time in this area while we were on the property and avoided all the kids and noise by the main pools with the waterfalls/pirate ship, etc. At the beginning of our stay, occupancy seemed to be lower, and it was pretty nice and quiet. When the weekend arrived things definitely seemed to pick-up.

The property definitely has one of the best locations on Ka'anapali Beach. You walk about 50 yards from the building and you're on the beach. You can swim a little directly in front of the resort, although there is some rocks/coral to watch for. We found that if you walk about 100 yards or so north (toward Black Rock), the swimming is best and little to no rocks there. We even saw a giant sea turtle just off the shore.

We were in an oceanfront Guest Room, which has a small sink, small fridge, a few dishes and utensils, toaster, coffee-maker.. everything we needed. The room itself was very clean and housekeeping was making rounds at least every other day. The lanai (balcony) was small, but in an oceanfront room provided gorgeous views of neighboring islands of Lanai and Molokai.

We popped into Longboards our first night for a couple drinks. Two martinis at $13 each, and both were totally watered-down. You can walk a few minutes north of the property and do much better than this for much cheaper at a few places we found.

You can rent snorkel gear right in front of the beach, as well as chairs and anything else you can think of. There are also very nice BBQ grills we saw people utilizing, and even hammocks which (at least during the time of season we were there) were usually available.

When the day came for us to check-out, we still had twelve hours before our evening flight. I called down to the front desk who said they could not give us a late check-out, however when I asked they confirmed that they did have a (shared) Courtesy Room available where we could shower and change. So we hung out at the beach and swam a bit, had a couple drinks at the bar and freshened-up in the Courtesy Room which was nicely kept-up. This was a major help.

I no longer travel for work, so I won't be accruing Marriott points anymore. But otherwise, we'd certainly come back to the Maui Ocean Club.

Just completed a week long stay. We are Marriott owners who traded to MOC. After a few phone calls we managed to get the tower and room we were looking for and reserved before we showed up.
We stayed in the Napili tower on the 7th floor ocean front. Every night was a sunset from our own balcony. The villa was clean and perfect for 4 people. The pool below us was never over-crowded but there were the usual idiots that would drop a towel to save the chair and then never use. That rule is rarely enforced if at all. The BBQ areas were great and we managed to get one when we needed it. Going in September is the best time not overly crowded. My only complaint is the pool bar closes too early and like all of Hawaii, way over priced.
The staff - very friendly and helpful. No complaints at all there.
Beware that there is construction going on next to the Lahaina tower at the Hyatt next door. If you get that tower on the south side expect construction. Also the Lahaina tower is being renovated over the next few months. Not sure what kind of noise that will create during the day. Overall we will be back. Love this Marriott property. No complaints

Room Tip: Ocean front may cost more but the view is unmatched. Higher the better.

This is a timeshare property but they do rent out rooms somewhere around$425 to $475 oceanfront. Ocean view will be less.
We purchased this place 15 years back and the properties are still well maintain by Marriott.
The hotel have 3 pools, 3 jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, gym room, restaurant and many more great things. The rooms are great if u get the oceanfront. Ocean view are great too. The beach are a bit rocky but further down to westin hotel, the beach are much nicer. A nice pathway walk to whaler village where shopping and restaurants can be found.
Most of the time staffs are great but I find the front desk are slow and not very friendly. You can always contact the manager for any inconvenience.
Otherwise the hotel great and properties are wonderful to spend in paradise.

Room Tip: Try call a week ahead for request for better room.

We traded into the the new towers. Since were giving up a 1 BR/1 BA with kitchen at Marriott Canyon Villas (Arizona) during spring break, we made sure that we wanted the same type of unit though Interval International. The unit we got was an 1 BR/ 1 BA oceanfront unit in the new towers with full kitchen. Great view.

MOC is located in Ka'anapli just north of Lahaina. The snorkeling outside the resort was amazing. So much fish. We had so much fun swimming in front of the resort. We did not use any of the pools. Why would we with the fish and rays just outside the resort. Black Rock is only a 15 minute walk which also had great snorkeling.

The rooms was clean. MOC was doing soft upgrades to the new towers while we were there. Front desk was great. Bell hop staff was also very nice. We did not get a lot of time share pitching from the staff. However, their sales staff along the Boardwalk were aggressive a couple of times. We almost bought another week here because the location is awesome. We could Lanai and Molokai from the resort.

We booked our activities with the concierge staff. We enjoyed the Maui Magic Dolphin Discovery tour which included some amazing dolphin watching, snorkeling at Molokini, and snorkeling at Makana. We also the a Road to Hana tour with Mahalo Tours. In my opinion, the Road the Hana is the most overrated drive. I have been to all the islands of Hawaii and I have seen some incredible scenery. The Road to Hana just didn't impressive. Yes, its beautiful but 12 hours going around east Maui is a waste of time.

You get one mid-week tidy from housekeeping if you are an Interval International Trade. Upgrades from the old tower to the new tower are not possible since this is a time share. Get over it people. We were lucky to get an oceanfront. Our trade of spring break in Arizona carries well to MOC.

Can anyone ever say they went to Maui and had a bad time..... This Marriott Vacation club is a perfect spot. We were able to stay half the time on Marriott rewards points, so I never felt like I was on a budget. Things are expensive, but its an island in the middle of the pacific. The resort has three restaurant, but we barely ate there. We were in the older units, a two bedroom suites with a living room in the middle. We ate breakfast and lunch for the most part in the room. Half the dinners we grilled at the great public grills all over the resort and the rest we spend going out. There are plenty of the choices near by. Everyone was great the resort is well taken care of!

Room Tip: Don't feel like you have to be ocean side, we did it but probably won't next time.

We bought our timeshare at MOC during our honeymoon twelve years ago. We go back at least once per year, sometimes twice. Never once have we ever had a negative thought while we are there. The staff stays the same for the most part, and we enjoy seeing them year after year. Any time we ever decide to go somewhere else for vacation, we always compare it to MOC and everything else falls short. MOC is the best vacation resort I've ever experienced.

Room Tip: We always get a high floor overlooking the pool, because from this view you can also see the ocean a...
