We were only there for 3 nights -- too short. Our room was exceptional with great décor. In addition to the room appliances, they have gas grills available for use. Our room was fully furnished and very comfortable. If there is nothing on cable, they do have DVDs available for rent on the premises. The property is well taken care of and they staff friendly. I do recommend you attend the 8:30 meeting on things to do. Susan will give you some great tips and offers. You'll need a rental car since there is so much to do. The only negative about this location is the small beach -- not much room.

Aloha and mahalo for choosing the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali for your time on the beautiful island of Maui. We're particularly gratified to hear that not only did you find your unit here to be exceptional but you also found our staff to be friendly and keeping the property looking great.
As you found out all of our units, whether they be studio, one bedroom or two bedroom all are very comfortable with tasteful decor and feature fully equipped kitchens and washer/dryer for added convenience.
Of course, our world class oceanfront views of various marine life, rainbows and beautiful sunsets appearing right between the neighboring islands of Molokai and Lanai keep our guests coming back year after year.
We very much hope you can return again for longer than a three night stay so you can experience all that the beautiful island of Maui and the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali has to offer.

Mahalo for taking the time to provide you comments and hope to see you again soon.

My wife and I stayed in Room #1205 from July 20-27. The view, decor and quality of the room was fantastic. Our room contained everything we needed - beach chairs, cooler, condiments, even wash detergent. Our stay in the Mahana added to the pleasurable experience we had on Maui.

The sunrise at Haleakala was great, except I wish I would have driven up myself instead of taking a tour. That would have given me the opportunity to go to the Kula Lodge for breakfast, the view is suppose to be great. Took the road to Hana and spent the night at the Bamboo Cottage outside of Hana. If you want to stay in Hana this place is worth it. Spent the next day exploring Halekala National Park. Hike on the Pipiwai Trail was more difficult because it rained that night, but it was worth it. Bamboo forest was amazing. After the hike took a plunge into the Oheo Gulch pools to cool off. Took the southern road back (wasn't that bad, if you took it slow) - long but beautiful and you got to see the different landscapes on that side of the island.

Really enjoyed Maui and even got to see Mick Fleetwood perform at his restaurant in Lahania!!!

Aloha and mahalo for taking the time to post your comments here at Trip Advisor on your recent stay at the Mahana at Kaanapali. We are thrilled to see you had a great time not only here at the Mahana where you found our second to none oceanfront location provided you with fantastic views and you enjoyed the qualtiy of the decor in your unit. All the owners at the Mahana at Kaanapali take great pride in keeping their units up to date and the convenience provided by our fully equipped kitchens and washer/dryers in every unit as well as the complimentary gas grills at our pool/jacuzzi area in combination with the best oceanfront views from every lanai and floor to ceiling window on the property make the Mahana at Kaanapali a great choice for any guest to the beautiful island of Maui.
We hope you can make it back to visit us again real soon.

My family and I stayed at the Mahana from 7\28-8\6. I booked the trip through Costco which covered our room, flight and rental car. (This ended up being the best deal.) Please note that a rental car is a must and make sure to prepay for gas for the rental return as they are able to charge about 20 cents less than the local gas that runs an avg of $4.56 gal to $4.79 gal. Based on previous reviews of the Mahana I was hoping to get a room on a higher floor to avoid my view from being obscured, but as fate would have it we were checked in on the 2nd floor. The front desk was willing to move us the next day to a higher floor but my family as well as I eventually fell in love with iconic postcard view. The 2 bdrm\2 bath unit was very spacious for a family of four and having a washer\dryer was a plus. The ocean front views (palm trees and all) were spectacular. It was also great that our unit had boogie boards ,beach chairs and pool towels. All the staff from housekeeping to the grounds crew were very friendly. If you choose to cook in the fully functioning kitchen or if you forgot to pack something, the Times Market is across the street and carries everything from souveigners to milk, but do yourself a favor and hit the Walmart or the Costco after you land to cut some of your food cost. The Aloha book provided by the Mahana also contains a bunch of coupons, which we found helpful. During our stay in Maui we had the chance to visit two resorts. I am so glad I chose the peace and serenity of the Aston Mahana over the crowded and faceless resorts. My family and I will definitely stay there again when we return to Maui.

Mahalo

Aloha and mahalo for choosing the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali for your stay here on the beautiful island of Maui. We're gratified to hear that we were able to exceed your expectations and that you found the entire staff to be friendly and helpful. As you found out the spectacular oceanfront views are available from every single unit here at the Mahana, no matter the floor height, due to our second to none locations only steps away from the quieter, northern end of Kaanapali beach.
Our peaceful oceanfront location is convenient however by both walking or driving to many shopping and dining options should the full kitchens in every unit and complimentary gas grills at the pool/jacuzzi area not be convenient for all of your meals. In addition to the spectacular views and full kitchens all of our studio, one bedroom and two bedroom units also have their own washer/dryer for extra convenience.
We are very happy to hear you plan on staying with us again and the entire staff here at the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali looks forward to showing you the Aloha Spirit again.

My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel for 8 nights in July 2013. When we first arrived, we went to our original room and found it to be very hot. Nothing else was wrong with it but it seemed like the AC wasn't working properly and it was a bit dated. We went to dinner to see if the room would cool off a little. When we got back, the room still wasn't cool so we went to the front desk to ask them about it. The woman at the desk said that sometimes the AC can get stuck. She told us to set it as low as it will go and that should reset it and if it still doesn't get cool then the maintenance man will look at it the next day. She also told us we could try a different room and let us check out 3 premium rooms. After seeing how much nicer the premium rooms were, we decided to pay the extra fee and switch. The premium rooms are fully upgraded and are larger than the regular rooms. Before checking into your room, I highly recommend checking it out first and then checking out a premium room (if there is one available) to decide for yourself. My fiancé and I definitely think the premium is worth it. The location and beach views of this hotel is amazing. Kaanapali beach is absolutely beautiful and has a lot of great snorkeling locations (Black Rock was our favorite). There is no restaurant at this hotel, just a little food cart. There is a great restaurant, Duke's Beach House, nearby that you can walk to from the beach. Overall, this hotel was affordable, clean, great location and we would recommend it.

Room Tip: Check out your room and then look at a premium room to see if you want to upgrade.

Aloha and mahalo for choosing the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali for your stay on the beautiful island of Maui. We are very happy to hear our staff was able to find you a room that exceeded your expecations and that you found your unit to be clean and for this to be a great location.
Just for clarification, here in the Aston rental program we have 128 units in which all our owners take great pride in making sure their units are clean and comfortable and we also have premium units where they have gone even higher with more up-scale appliances, artwork, furniture and appointments however the premium units are not any larger. We have four categories of rooms here, studio, one bedroom one bath, one bedroom two bath and two bedroom two bath, all of which have fully equipped kitchens and washer/dryer for our guest's convenience.
Of course every unit also has the private lanai and floor to ceiling windows (during the afternoons this means the direct sunlight can make the room a little warmer) from which our guests enjoy the second to none spectacular views of the neighboring islands of Molokai and Lanai, rainbows, beautiful sunsets and marine life such as sea turtles, dolphins and in season, the humpback whales.
The entire staff here at the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali makes it a goal that we show the Aloha Spirit to all of our guests and make sure their expectations are exceeded.
We do hope you will return again soon.

We stayed here on an anniversary holiday and was our first trip to Maui and Hawaii.

I would certainly recommend the Aston Mahana to anyone wanting a beachside location in Maui. I did a fair bit of research about Maui and concluded that the west side is drier and sunnier, this ended up being true during our 5-night stay in late July. So if you’re still considering where to stay in Maui, I’d opt for somewhere in Kaanapali, Lahaina or Wailea.

Good points about the Aston Mahana:

- High quality and spacious condo-style accommodation with amazing views of the ocean. As other reviewers have mentioned the massive windows look directly onto the Pacific Ocean and the extreme proximity of the accommodation to the sea means that one can have the window open at night and hear the waves breaking below. We stayed in unit 817 and would certainly recommend this as it was very clean, had spacious living room with separate kitchen and bedroom. The balcony was accessible from both the bedroom and living room. It was very convenient to have a washing-machine and tumble-drier to launder our clothes after a fortnight away, laundry detergent is replaced as you need it. Coffee for the coffee-machine is replaced each day. We didn’t cook meals in the property but the kitchen facilities would be perfect if you chose to.
- Location: much has already been said about the location directly on the ocean-front. We enjoyed sitting on the grassy area just above the beach as it is westerly facing and perfect for afternoon sunbathing and sunset watching. While Kaanapali is a quiet resort with mostly condo-accommodation, we found it convenient to drive, parking is free. There are a handful of restaurants within walking distance. We went to Duke’s Beach House twice and found the food good, but service poor. Much better is Hula Grill further south along the beach about 30mins walk. Check out my other reviews.
- Good wifi. This was provided as part of the $10 per day resort fee. One just has to provide an email address to log-in.
- There was a good jogging route along the board walk that ran above the beach. I jogged a 6km circular route one morning before the sun rose. It was a popular thing with other joggers and dog-walkers at that time of the morning.

My recommendations for “must do” things in Maui:

- Hire a car and drive the Hana highway. This is best done with a convertible so you can look up and around you. I would recommend doing this early in the morning as it is a popular thing to do. We left the Aston at 0730am and were only reaching the Hana highway itself by about 0900am but there were already a good number of other tourists by this time. Also the sun is in the right position for admiring the views at that time of day. Better still spend a few nights in Hana itself - we’d have loved to have had more time in this part of the island to explore, although I would still spend 75% of your time on the west side.
- Go micro-lighting. See my other review for that. A perfect way to see the Hana coastline from the air and really appreciate the beauty
- Go biking down the Haleakala mountain, but make sure you choose a company that lets you cycle down on your own at your own pace rather than in a group.

Please tick helpful if you found my review helpful!

We are very happy to hear that we exceeded all of your expectations and that you found your unit to have been of high quality, spacious and with the amazing oceanfront views from the floor to ceiling windows and private lanais we feature in every unit here whether it be studio, one bedroom or two bedroom. All of our units also have the comfort of home with fully equipped kitchens and washer/dryer for our guest's convenience. Our pool/jacuzzi area also features complimentary gas grills so there are many options to save some money and eat on property however for guests who prefer our quiet oceanfront location on the northern end of Kaanapali is a short drive or walk away from many shopping and dining options.
Of course, all of our guests return again and again for the amazing oceanfront views of various marine life, rainbows and the beautiful sunsets appearing right between the neighboring islands of Molokai and Lanai.
We appreciate you coming to visit us all the way from the UK and hope you can make it again in the near future to celebrate another special occasion and create more lasting memories of your time here at the Aston Mahana at Kaanapali on the beautiful island of Maui.

I stayed here from 13th July - 18th July 2013 with my husband and two boys 10 & 7.

We stayed in Room 416 a 1 bedroom Oceanfront deluxe room. This room was perfect for us plenty of room most of all a picture perfect view. The rooms are absolute beachfront so the views are absolutely amazing they have floor to ceiling windows so you dont miss a thing. You hear the sounds of ocean which we loved. Previous reviews had said the best floors were level 6 or higher which I don't agree with. We were perfectly located even saw spinner dolphins from our balcony whilst having breakfast.

The kitchen was fully self contained with everything a family would need. The king bed for us was so comfortable as was the fold out for our sons which was in the loungeroom.

Our room was immaculate and I could not fault it at all.

The staff at the Aston Mahana were always very helpful for any of our needs and very polite. Our concierge "Patty" who helped us with all our tour booking was amazing!! She really went out of her way to make sure that we got the most out of our trip.

You can swim outside the complex despite what other reviews say. However the best snorkelling is about 200 metres to the left (directly out the front of the Westin) it is amazing for snorkelling (even better than the snorkelling on our trip to The Molikini Crater) lots of fish and live coral the water is absolutely crystal clear. Even swam with turtles.

Times is a mini supermarket located about 5 minutes away which you can get all your groceries from. The complex is in a very handy location.

I highly recommend this accommodation especially room 416.
