“Great experience in Maui”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

We stayed in unit 211 and had a wonderful time. I was a bit disappointed that we were on a low floor at first. Once we got to the room, the view was great. It was very close to the beach. The patio was screened in and had nice furniture. The room had a full kitchen and laundry. The kitchen was well furnished with pots and pans, they even had gas grills available for use pool side. We cooked 3 meals in the room and had everything needed for cooking.
We did not use the pool, but saw people using it and it visually looked good. There was a spa next to the pool as well. The beach right in front of the resort was a little steep and had some rocks but just south of the resort they were very nice for swimming. We rented snorkeling equipment from a local shop(with in walking distance, Snorkel Bobs) and snorkeled the reef right in front of the resort and were amazed at the amount of fish and sea life that we could see.
The view from the room was amazing. We were there during whale season and saw many whales right from our room's patio. I would recommend bringing binoculars so you can view even more whale activity. One morning we even saw a baby whale jumping(5-10 times) 100 yards in front of the resort.
The location was great, it is close to Lahaina(rental or bus). There are a bunch of good restraints with in walking distance of the resort. The beach is nice at the resort and close to several great beaches for snorkeling, swimming and surfing.
Overall it was a great resort and made the whole vacation a wonderful trip. We are already planning our next trip back to the island and will be staying here again.

Room Tip: All rooms have a great view. In this case the higher rooms have a better view. Esp for whale watch...

Aloha and thank you very much for your comments and we're very happy to hear you had a great experience here at the Aston Mahana. We very much agree that no matter what floor or unit you are in here at the Aston Mahana you will definitely have three things, great service, a clean and comfortable unit with all of the comforts of home with full kitchen and washer/dryer and a spectacular view.
While we are conveniently located here on the quieter northern end of Kaanapali Beach you are right that within walking distance or a short drive away there are many dining or shopping options available in Kaanapali proper, Kapalua and Lahaina itself.
Of course, as you did, it's very easy to never leave the unit and property itself with the fully equipped kitchens and complimentary gas grills located at our pool/jacuzzi area.
We can't wait to host you again real soon so the entire staff here at the Aston Mahana can show you the Aloha Spirit and provide more unforgettable memories of the beautiful island of Maui and our paradise here at the Aston Mahana.

The Mahana was the perfect place to finish up the second leg of our Honeymoon!! Whether you’re planning a day at the beach or looking for a five star restaurant experience, the Mahana was the perfect location for getting to all of our activities. Not to mention, you only have to go as far as your own lanai to experience stunning views. We can’t wait to plan another trip to the Mahana to experience even more of what Maui has to offer.

Aloha and congratulations on the recent nuptials. We're thrilled that we were able to host you on your honeymoon here at the Aston Mahana and that the Aloha Spirit our staff shows to all of our guests and the clean comfortable unit you stayed in have you wanting to come back again.
As you mentioned, the views here at the oceanfront Aston Mahana are stunning with abundant marine life including the humpback whales between December and May, plus the spectacular sunsets and rainbows between the neighboring islands of Molokai and Lanai available from every unit here at the Mahana.
We definitely hope we can continue to host you for your upcoming anniversaries and family vacations in the future. See you soon.

I'm not sure what was more delightful, watching the Sea Turtles play in the surf or the sound of the ocean waves hypnotizing me into slumber. The Mahana was an amazing value for the beach starved vacationer. From the extremely clean pool and hot tubs to the well manicured lawns the Mahana was a delight to have as a headquarters to search out great local eateries and vegetarian haunts. The full kitchen and in-room laundry saved us tons of $$ while enjoying the world class ocean views.

We had an amazing time and would reccommend the Aston property to anyone who enjoys great service, impeccable accommodations and great views.

Ohana meand Family and Aston treats you just like a family member!

Aloha,
Colin

Aloha and mahalo for the great review and for choosing the Aston Mahana for your lodgings here on the beautiful island of Maui. We're really humbled by your praise and glad that we met all of our goals which you so eloquently detailed, Great Service (Treated you like our Ohana, family member), Impeccable Accomodations (Clean and Comfortable and great value with the full kitchen and washer/dryer we provide in every unit) and Great Views (Along with the sea turtles you saw everyday we also hope you never missed the spectacular sunsets between Molokai and Lanai and of course humpback whales during the December to April season).
We very much look forward to your return visit.

Great view, gorgeous inside of 609. Pool was cold(as it sits in the shade all day). The maid skipped our room 2 days in a row-finally we had to report it. Snorkeling outside of the hotel is near impossible due to the amount of coral littering that entire beach. The plus's were the view, you can see tons of Whales from your Lanai, the sound of the waves crashing can be heard vividly from your bedroom, and the room we were in was like I said gorgeous! Granite everywhere a bathroom to die for, and a full functional stainless steel kitchen.

Aloha and mahalo for posting your comments here for future guests to see. We are sorry to hear of of your disappointment with housekeeping and the pool. On the housekeeping side here at the Aston Mahana we provide daily service however as in your particular case when the guest asks for privacy by placing the Do Not Disturb sign on the door we do not knock to ask if they'd like service, we do apologize if there was some confusion on this.
While the pool is in the shade at certain times of day we find that our guests enjoy the entire pool area where they can utilize the jacuzzi tub, pool, relaxe in the comfortable chairs or cook at the complimentary gas grills as well. Of course from the pool area the same spectacular views of marine life (seasonally the humpback whales), sunsets, rainbows and neighboring islands of Molokai and Lanai are available as they are from every unit here at the oceanfront Aston Mahana.
As many guests mention while the immediate ocean area fronting our property does have a bit of reef, this is also why so many sea turtles and other marine life are in this area. In either direction should this area be too tough there are many great swimming beaches.
We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed all of the great features of your unit which are common to all of the units in the Aston rental program here at the Mahana plus you receive all of the service levels that go with it such as a 24 hour front desk where you check-in, receive assistance you may need and get your pool towels, plus our daily housekeeping and on-site maintenance should the need arise.
We very much hope the gorgeous unit and spectacular views provided you with memories you'll keep forever as that's the goal we have for all of our guests.

Hope you can make a return trip back to join us in the near future.

We stayed in unit #914 and can't imagine staying anywhere else. The view is spectacular and this one bedroom unit is obviously recently redecorated in the most beautifully elegant manner and yet furnished so comfortably. Initially we were concerned about being on the 9th floor but the elevators are speedy and silent, and waking up that first morning and seeing whale spouts from our bed was simply amazing. We brought binoculars and watched whales cavorting right in front of us while eating our breakfast on our totally private lanai.

The kitchen is fully furnished with new, high-quality appliances, and all the dinnerware and cookware one generally might need. We shopped at Costco and Safeway, but also at the nearby Times Market. We ate most of our meals in the condo because it was just so beautiful - the sunrises, the sunsets, the rainbows, the rain clouds hovering over Lanai and Molokai. There are barbecues below, a pleasant place to enjoy the beautiful garden flowers, the towering canopy of trees, the birds singing and the perfect 80 degree temperatures, while watching for one's Mahi Mahi to barbeque.

This unit is furnished with a washer and dryer, lots of hangers and drawer space! The hall closet even contained paddle-boards and a cooler to take off for a day at the beach. Beach towels are available at the pool.

The entire facility is so well maintained and located right on the beach. Walking through the parking lot, one can reach the boardwalk that extends along the waterfront just behind the sand and walk to nearby restaurants. The sandy beach out front extends all the way to Black Rock. Just 200 yards to the south is a great swimming beach.

There wasn't anything I can imagine that could have been better. Our stay in unit #914 at the Mahana felt like a little bit of heaven. Truly a paradise.

Room Tip: Pull the see-through shades between 3 pm - 5 pm, to reduce sun glare.

great condo/hotel setting. I loved the views the whole back wall of the condo is made up of floor to ceiling windows and the views are outstanding. I loved the fact that our condo was well maintained with comfy furniture and granite countertops, everything you would need was available from kitchen appliances to beach equipment like umbrellas and lunge chairs, even foam coolers. There was a medium sized pool and a hot tub that were well maintained and cleaned and really not very frequented so plenty of room for us to lounge, I think I may know why there weren't all that many people out when we went down to the pool... the wind in the evening. We had our 1 year old with us and being in the pool around 6 pm was a bit too cold, and at times the winds were so strong that it would blow my novel off the lounge chair. it was windy every night but not always as strong. It's not a reason not to go but it has been one that has so far deterred us from returning to this part of Maui. Also the beach right in front of the hotel is not swimmable as there are very large rock outcrops but there is a beach nearby that is large (kanapalli beach) with restrooms. Also be aware that this side of Maui does not have the white fine sandy beaches the sand here is more coarse and red not as fun for the kiddos to play in. We now tend to go to the south side where it seems that the winds are stronger between 11-1 in the day and much more calm in the evening. I do like this are of town due to it's closeness to downtown Lahaina and Whalers village.

Aloha and mahalo for taking the time to give us your comments on your recent stay at the Aston Mahana. We are sorry you found the winds to be a bit strong at times however the year round breezes here on the northern end of Kaanapali are welcomed as they keep us cooler during the summer and fall months. During the winter season, when we the temperatures are a little cooler (relatively speaking as we're still not dropping below 70 degrees) these breezes can be a little stronger.
Despite this, as you found out, this side of the island features some of the best views in the world and during the winter season the additional benefits of the humpback whales hanging out in the waters just off our property.
We were very happy to hear that you enjoyed our well-maintained, clean and comfortable unit which is or goal for all of our guests and the full kitchen we have in all of our units as well.
We very much hope you do come back to the Aston Mahana where we offer both a quieter and private location yet are still conveniently located by both walking or by car to all of the shopping and dining areas in Kapalua, central Kaanapali or Lahaina.
Hope to see you soon and mahalo for your feedback.

We stayed in room 1013 this was high up and far above the palms for great view of ocean. We would recommend to all our friends. Saying that our friend don't have kids. This is not a kids condo, go next door for them and all he kiddie pools etc. Stayed a week only regret we could not stay 3 months. This was a premier studio and strongly suggest you go for the premier room.

Room Tip: ask for high room above trees.

Aloha and mahalo for the "outstanding" review of your recent stay at the Mahana. We are excited to hear that you loved your view and can assure all of our potential guests that they feel the same from whatever unit they are at on this property, no matter the floor as all units are oceanfront.
While you are correct that we don't have the large "resorty" type of pool area, we believe that with our inventory of clean and comfortable units, all with full kitchens, in the studio, one bedroom and two bedroom categories that we can meet the needs of any family group whether it's a couple or a family with children.
Our pool area with jacuzzi tub also features complimentary gas grills and of course you are steps away from the ocean and the second to none views of the neighboring islands of Molokai and Lanai, spectacular sunsets and wide array of marine life.
We very much hope you can return again soon for a longer stay.

Mahalo for taking the time to provide your feedback.
