Lahaina Shores Beach Resort
Ranked #6 of 32 Hotels in Lahaina
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 7, 2014

We just returned from our vacation in Maui. We stayed at the Lahaina Shores Beach resort. Are room was #425. It is a Ocean View room. The room has been remodeled and everything looks updated. There is a private balcony for viewing the ocean. Several mornings we woke up to see a cruise ship anchored off of the shore. The resort is within walking distance of Downtown Lahaina and the dock where you can take a whale watching cruise, or dinner cruise. The resort has a nice beach. You can rent Kayaks or paddle boards from a vendor that is a short walk down the beach. There is a Expedia rep on sight to help you arrange excursions. We had already purchased some online. The Expedia prices were competitive to what we paid online. So next time we will just purchase the excursions there. We saved money by cooking some meals in our room. There kitchen is fully equipped except for a dishwasher.( We brought our own..me) Bring a rain coat or parka( it is a rain forest) IT rained 3 of the 7 days we were there but not all day. And DON'T forget the mosquito spray. If you go hiking in the rain forest you WILL need it. One last thing. Food is expensive. We shopped at Safeway. Everything is double the price( I.E. 1 Gallon of milk $5.00) Pineapple is cheaper. Go figure. I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Ocean front, Ocean front, Ocean front, The view is amazing!

Lahaina Shores is not one of the swank resort hotels you might have pictured on Maui. It is very nice, within easy walking distance of town, and right on the beach. It is in the town of Lahaina in the area where real Hawaiians live. The hotel is not new, but well maintained. Staff are cheerful and helpful. The rooms are spacious and come with a kitchen. With restaurant prices what they are here, you might want to cook in once in awhile. We had a corner room with views of the mountains and the ocean. This is a nice place to stay.

We have just spent 2 weeks here. Our condo was 411 & overlooked the ocean & the gardens. The condo was a premium & was clean & well equipped . We mostly shopped at the local grocery store & then bbq'd at night. We ate out on the Lanai watching the sunset.
The ocean was right outside the gate from the garden. The beach itself was narrow & a bit rocky especially when the tide was out.
There was ample space to sit it the garden & sunbathe. No shortage of loungers & it was possible to move into the shade when necessary.
The cleaning service was top class & any maintenance issue addressed immediately.
Although this was not a resort as such if you want a smaller more personal & relaxing place to stay this is it.

If you are thinking of going to Maui, please think
twice about staying at Lahaina Resort. It was such a
disappointment. There was Mold in the Bathroom and they
seemed to Nickel and Dime you too death!

#615 condo is an absolutely beautiful, privately owned condo and everything that we wanted and needed! It can be found on vrbo. Not only does the unit itself have beautiful views and a clean lovely atmosphere, but Lahaina Shores itself is clean, well maintained, and the pool, hot tub, and lawns leading to the beach are just great. The unit is well equipped with beach chairs and equipment, books, a comfortable bed and other furniture, especially great lanai furniture to enjoy the ocean and sunsets. Remy, the concierge was friendly and knowledgeable and helped us plan many great excursions. There are many great restaurants within walking distance of this condo, although we prefer to shop for groceries and eat light when on vacation. The Safeway was only a mile away and took care of all our grocery needs, and the kitchen in the condo had everything we needed. We were there also at the time of the Maui Oceanfront Marathon which my husband ran and I did the 5K. It was well run and a great experience in paradise! We hope to come back in a few years and would definitely choose Unit 615 for another wonderful time in beautiful Maui!

The name is strictly speaking perhaps a little misleading as this is not a resort but a charming almost colonial style hotel that reminds you of old films and bygone days. It is located right on the beach so you just step out of your bed and right into the ocean. If you are lucky you have booked a room with a balcony on the right side of the building and you may drink your sundowners to a sunset that is quite without a par. The rooms are quite OK with kitchenette and bathroom, but it is the view that takes your breath away. The location is great with a short walk to all the attractions of Lahaina village, a short drive to golf courses. There is no room service or restaurant but the shops and the restaurants are just a sort walk awayI would definitely recommend this to anyone who is not so interested in staying in the all inclusive hotels further up the road...

Room Tip: It must be on the ocean side

If you want a fake "Disney world" vacation experience this is not the place for you, try one of the big resorts. But if you want an authentic relaxing Hawaiian experience this is for you. Huge rooms, recently remodeled, with granite countertop kitchens. Great staff that goes above and beyond. Very close to downtown Lahaina. There is a general store and several restaurants next door. My only complaints is that the room floors are tile which is slippery when wet, and we didn't get internet access in the room. Also, the parking spots are very narrow.
