“Great stay in Lahaina”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2013

We stayed in a premium ocean to front room and loved it. Before going I wondered if some of the ocean view rooms were looking out from the sides. This was not so. There are only rooms on the ocean front side and the back mountain side of the hotel. We had some gorgeous sunsets on even very cloudy days.

While the grounds are modest, they couldn't be more convenient. No long walks back to your room if you forgot something. The waters are protected by a small reef and we were surprised by the number fish. It's also very shallow so even the beginner can feel safe.

While most of the restaurants are at the other end of town, there are several next door. In addition there is a shop that sells many of the grocery items you would need for your stay as well as souvenirs.

No fancy waterfalls like the big chain resorts, but a perfect place for us.

Definitely not the best hotel accommodations for a trip to Hawaii. It looks like this hotel was previously an apartment that was converted into a hotel, in the middle of a residential area. While the outside view of the hotel looks fine, it is obvious that it was converted very quickly and poorly. For example, the pillars are made out of plastic, simply knock your hand on it and it is hollow. The studio looked like it was an apartment studio, and not a typical studio with a kitchenette you would expect from a hotel. When I say that, I mean there was no carpet in the room. Yes, all tile, no carpet, even underneath the bed. How bizarre is that? Also, to turn the air conditioner on, you have to repeatedly push the down button 15 times for 1 degree. I am very tech saavy, and it would not turn on. I called the front desk, and someone came up and turned it on and off 4 times, and pushed it over and over and over and he found the trick, you have to push 14-15 times per 1 degree, so it was a lot of pushing to get it nice and cold.

The resort was not crazy dirty by any means, although there was construction just a few doors down that was a bit loud during the day, and the hall smelled badly of paint all over. However, it is not a hotel I would want to stay at. Not giving 1 star because it was not unsafe or dangerous in any way, and luckily I only stayed there one night until I could check into my timeshare (I extended my trip last minute), but I would be extremely frustrated if I chose this as my regular hotel.

Room Tip: I don't think there are many good rooms here to be honest

This place was perfect, we stayed in ocean view room #517 for 6 nights in November. The room was huge and the view was breath taking!! The balcony was large over looking the beautiful ocean. The kitchen had granite counter tops and nice dishes, a stove, a full size fridge, a dishwasher and every type of utensil we could have needed. The room was very clean and the staff was very helpful and welcoming, greeting us each day and night with a smiling "aloha"! The barbeques were fun to use and the pool and spa were very clean and nice. The location was within steps to Lahaina town, with tons of shops and restaurants. It was PERFECT and I will visit again. We absolutely loved this place and would recommend to anyone!

Room Tip: Upgrading to an ocean view room is worth the extra money!!! the views are spectacular!

Third time we've stayed there & it's only gotten better. Third floor, ocean view. It's like watching a movie every time one looks out over the balcony. Boats of all sorts drifting by, people wandering the beach, any assortment of dogs playing in the water...sunsets to die for. Our room was absolutely perfect for two people, plenty of space to laze about after a day of roaming Lahaina town, minutes away, happy hour at Bettys next door...fully equipped kitchen, big bath & strong shower...enough tables to eat at, inside or out...go on line or write the old fashioned postcard. Do yourself a favor & stay there. Staff is friendly & very helpful. Early morning, fall out of bed and into the warm water only yards away. Kathy Heaney

Room Tip: Anything facing the ocean, other side is facing mountains & a partial parking lot.

My wife and I stayed recently at the Lahaina Shores Beach resort, specifically penthouse #5. Note that the units are individually owned so your experience will vary depending on your room. Having said that, this is without a doubt the best room in the house and you cannot be disappointed with a stay in this room. The amenities, furnishings etc. are more than one could ask for, the facility is clean and as well there is full kitchen facilities and washer/dryer in the room. The view is beyond a million dollars! Search the internet for this specific room and you will not be disappointed in any way...excellent value for the dollar! The website for PH5 gives an excellent overview.

Room Tip: Look for Penthouse #5!

We booked our room sight unseen and we had never been to Hawaii before. The room was very nice and the kitchenette was perfect for breakfast and lunches. It would heave been nice if the lobby had at least a morning cup of coffee for guests. The beach at the resort is very nice and the location just two blocks south of the downtown made the resort a location without using a car. Parking at the adjacent parking garage was convenient, but did cost extra.

Staff was very friendly and helpful with local attractions and restaurants.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 2nd floor, mountain side, and the small balcony overlooked the front faced roo...
