“Great Stay at Beachfront Property”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2012

I loved our unit right in front of the beach! From a newly renovated room on the 5th floor, to a gorgeous view of the beach and pool - our unit delivered on everything it promised on the VRBO site. My most favourite thing about this suite was that as soon as we walked into the room, a stunning, breathtaking view welcomed us. This place is definitely the place to stay when on Maui because of it's convenient location to everything you could possibly want to do on the island - we did a dinner cruise and snorkel trip that left from Maalaea; went down to Wailea and Makena; drove to see the sunrise on the volcano and went all the way around to Hana just to name a few. It's quite close to drive to Kaanapali area and if you prefer to just stay in town, there's lots to occupy yourself with right on Front Street. Parking was less than 4 bucks a day was in a secure garage that was only steps away from the building. I would stay here even if I had more than $200 a night to spend; if you get a newly renovated suite like we did from VRBO.com, this place beats the Sheraton or Westin in terms of value. Really wished we had booked to stay more than just 8 days.

We took a puddle jumper plane from the Big Island to Maui for an overnight. This was a splurge in the middle of our vacation so we chose a Penthouse suite at Lahaina Shores with high expectations. We had a mountainview unit as all the oceanfront units were rented. Upon arriving at the facility, we unloaded and walked into the lovely lobby with a great ocean and pool view. The back of the facility provided a large grass area with lounge chairs, lovely flowered bushes, a pool and beach access. After check in, we went to the Penthouse with high hopes. We had Penthouse #2. As soon as we opened the door, we were disappointed. The unit was very old...circa 1980. The kitchen was so bad that the cabinets didn't even close. The few upgrades they did do (bath wall had glass tile and they recovered some of the chairs and couch) were just not enough to justify the cost of this place for a night. The large balcony had 2 sets of tables and chairs with a ton of bird crap all over them. The slider for the bedroom would not lock and there was no safe in the room. We were also disappointed to find that you could not rent beach chairs or take any of the facilities chairs on the beach. Parking was next door under the building and charged at $8.00 per day. Location wise, it was well situated if you wanted to explore Lahaina. Overall, it just wasn't worth it....there are many better choices on Maui to stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a fully refurbished room! Avoid Penthouse #2

We loved our oceanfront premier studio at Lahaina Shores. The premier upgrade is worth the extra cost. My only disappointment was no dishwasher in the room we selected. Very friendly staff, clean accommodations, beautifully decorated, and you can't beat the oceanfront view & soothing ocean sounds! We have always stayed in the Kaanapali area, but we'll stay at Lahaina Shores from now on.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view. Don't settle for anything less than oceanfront - it...

Lush grounds; beach just a breath away, pool & spa, lots of lawn lounges and near all conveniences. Kudos to the staff from Front Desk to House Keeping as each greeted us with huge smiles, warm courteous service and a wonderful knack for being helpful. Our condo, 431, was wonderful and opened to the smell of sweet flowers and ginger. You could see the ocean through a whole wall of sliding glass doors leading onto a secluded lanai with a table for two, if you left them open at night you could hear the surf. Everything was spotless. The furnishings were ideal and captured the island atmosphere. Our biggest concern was the Murphy bed - but it was wonderful. The main reason for our trip was Molokai as it's the only island my spouse hadn't been on. The resort was perfect because the Ferry to Molokai was within walking distance. Actually, we parked our rental car when we arrived and didn't use it again until our tour to Haleakala 3 days later! We enjoyed our swim in the ocean and then a dip in the pool before bed and watching the beautiful sunsets. This is the first vacation to Hawaii where we came home so relaxed and refreshed we didn't feel the need for another vacation to get over this one!!! The only down part was the Luau held next door... It was fantastic the first night, entertaining the second night; we closed the sliding doors the third & fourth nights, but it was over by 10:00pm.

Room Tip: Ask for Premier Condos, they've all been refurbished. Condos above or below 423 will have a bet...

We stayed there for two nigths in an ocean view room which was fantastic. Leave the balcony door open over night and you can hear the sound of the sea! The room (209) was good, but needed a bit of maintenance overall. We enjoyed our stay very much as it is close to Lahaina village and there are also 3 restaurants next to the hotel. You also get to see a luau show "for free" if you eat dinner at Betty's Beach cafe, make sure you get there before 7pm.

We had the best time staying at Lahaina Shores Beach Resort. It was everything and more. The rooms were very very nice,. Situated in such a beautiful convenient location--plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, just walking distance away from all of this, literally feet away from the ocean. Our own private balcony that we could go out on watching the sun rise/set. Such a breathtaking view. Our daughter got married in Maui, and so this was a special occassion that brought us here and we were so pleased with the accommodations Lahaina Shores offered us. We definitely will be returning. Thanks to such a great staff for making our stay a wonderful memory.

Room Tip: Ocean view!!

I first came to Lahaina Shores in 1989 when a Travel Agent suggested I come here. My lady and I had a Mt. View. In 1997, I returned with my new bride of 2 years and our 1 year old. My wife was impressed. We also had a Mt. View, but my wife told me, "NEXT TIME MR., Water view." In Feb, 2012, we got our Tax return and booked the Hotel once again, but we now had a 16/12 year old daughters. So we got the downstairs 1 bedroom Condo. The Mrs. and I had our own side that extended to the Mt. Side and our living side opened up to what we called our backyard. Could walk right out, no stairs or elevators for people like me who are near 50 and have bad legs. We had a huge King bed and the girls had a pull out bed from the couch that was close to a King size or a very large Queen bed. They loved it! Yes, there are keys, so what? They are also used to keep out others also from using the side gates and the gate to the beach. Yes, you have to pay $40.00 for internet, no wireless WEP key that worked :( Yes, a parking fee. But most big hotels, even in Orlando do this. Those are the only downs. Staff are superb and if you catch Chris the blonde young man in the evening doing his lawn chores. He is very helpful. Now, as far as snorkeling. You have to go our during the high tide which is usually in the afternoon. As you go out, you will start seeing coral piles. Keep going and get over the 4-6 foot reef. Once you do, you are a way out there, but it become 30 feet and I went out farther and out came the 5 Manta Rays that Chris told me about. So cool watching them feed. So this hotel has everything you need. Lot of shop and places for food in town. You will not be disappointed. The hotel has been very updated since our last trip 15 years ago. Kudos Lahaina Shores, see you next June!

Room Tip: For couples, get a studio room. Bigger room is nice. Got teenagers, go with a 1 or 2 bedroom Condo...
