What an amazing hotel and staff! Loved our one bedroom condo. Plenty of room for all of us and the ocean view from our balcony was amazing! The restaurant food was excellent! Loved being right on the beach and having two pools was good! Kids Club was really a great opportunity for our son.

One thing that truly stuck me about this hotel was the customer service from the staff. When checking in I shared with the front desk staff that I was celebrating my Birthday during my stay. The next day I received a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts! Also upon checking in we received a postcared that said to join a Expedia Local Expert presentation the next day. My husband and I thought it was a timeshare gig so we decided not to go. Later we saw a poster in the elevator that advertised the Expedia Local Expert presentation and it stated it was not a timeshare presentation. I decided to go with our son to see what it was all about besides it was a free breakfast if anything. Andrea Wallace gave a presentation on all of the adventures you could do in Maui. From helicopter rides, submarine rides, walking to the beach, which beach was awesome, just everything to do in Maui. She had the experience in each tour she was talking about and a passion about Maui that was contagious! There was no pressure to book anything so that was nice. But what a lot of information packed into less then one hour! We booked through Pili Sundin, a Expedia Local Expert, the Atlantis Submarine ride and the Molokini Snorkel tour. WOW he was great to book through. Thorough with questions to ensure that we had chosen the right tour and what would be good for our 8-year-old son. No pressure, no gimmicks just excellent customer service and knowledge! Throughout our stay we would run into Andrea and Pili and they would ask us how we were doing and what we had done that day. They remembered all of our names and what genuine smiles and questions they had. We honestly felt like family with the staff upon leaving to go home. That’s how Andrea, Pili and the staff at Kaanapali Shores made us feel. I would go back in a heartbeat! While in Maui for six days we did the Molokini Snorkel Tour, Atlantis Submarine Adventure and the Old Lahaina Luau. Each adventure we did was excellent! We learned that if you book through your hotel you get better deals! So glad we learned that early in our trip!

This hotel was perfect for our family! Being right on the beach was so beautiful and very convenient. We didn't have to hassle with getting sandy wet kids in and out of the car. We just walked right out of our room and could select from two pools, a hot tub, and/or the incredible Hawaiian beach which was just steps away! We have 2 kids (ages 2 & 4) and we traveled with 6 other family members (4 adults, a 6 & 8 year old). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip & liked the hotel! We stayed in 3 separate rooms each with kitchens which made it really easy for morning breakfast, afternoon drink breaks and midnight snacks. The rooms felt spacious, clean, and bright. The hotel was also located within walking distance to many restaurants (pizza, hawaiian bbq, mexican, subway etc), an ABC store (great for gifts, snacks, and sand toys!) and a grocery store. We rented snorkel gear across the street at Snorkel Bobs and had fun seeing the beautiful coral and sea life just steps from our hotel room. Overall, for our group it just seemed like everything was convenient and easy which made for a wonderful relaxing vacation (even with a 2 year old :))! We'd definitely return to this location!

Room Tip: Kitchen and a washing machine was helpful. Great view - we had upper corner room, hide-a-bed sofa w...

The staff, grounds, amenities, and location are all fantastic. This is a real piece of Hawaii.
We had the most beautiful 2 Br that we've ever stayed in. The grounds are manicured to the nth degree and the views spectacular.

Room Tip: Best we've ever seen.

We stayed here during spring break with our two kids and found the location great right on the beach. You get all the amenities of a 4 star hotel but with all the convenience of a condominium.Grocery store right across the street in a strip mall which was great to stock up with snacks and drinks for the kids.Great walk on sandy beach , 2 pools[1 kiddy pool] restaurant on site with bar overlooking main pool and ocean.Beautiful manicured grounds to walk around and enjoy.Easy drive down the road to Whalers village in Kaanapali where all the resorts and shopping are , but Kaanapali Shores was quiet without the crowds which was very nice.We had a 1 bedroom condo with ocean view and lanai which was wonderful, condo was fully equipped with full kitchen and washer/dryer,queen size sleeper sofa in livingroom.Lots activities for kids to do such as Hula lessons and Lei making with real flowers kids loved this.Staff were friendly and efficient and helpful which made our stay more enjoyable.Overall we had a fantastic time here and can't wait to return to Maui real soon and would definately stay at Kaanapali Shores again, would recommend to friends and family to stay here which I have already. Forgot to mention that I saw whales every day we were on Maui which made our visit even more memorable.

Room Tip: Arrive early to check in as the best ocean view rooms go fast

Booked everything through Orbitz, no issues. Checked in early at 1:30, was told that we were getting an upgrade from our studio to a 1 bedroom suite. This place is basically a 1 bedroom apartment, full kitchen, washer and dryer. There is a DVD kiosk downstairs - free, playstations in the room, so kids will like that. The room is really great, very spacious, clean, great lanai overlooking the garden area. Only used pool and beach once, no problems. We were here on labor day weekend, and the place is definitely not booked up, so that might be how we got the upgrade. All in all, very impressed with the property. Getting the upgrade and having all that stuff in the room was really the icing on the cake for the trip. Parking is not a problem, kind of annoying to have to get a ticket each time, but oh well.
Like lots of people posted on here, the grocery store is right across the street, and there are plenty of places to eat. We never ate at the property, we never do when we stay at resorts. Having the full kitchen, with the grocery store right across the street, makes it very easy to stretch the travel dollar, which is awesome.
Price, location, stores/restaurants in the neighborhood, the place has the whole package. Final note - I love to snorkel, this property doesnt really have great snorkeling, but 5 minutes up the road, Napili bay, great snorkeling.

We actuall stayed here in a private condo (VRBO) 7th floor and it was everything we expected. The one bedroom apartment was very clean, well fitted out with everything we could need.
The resort had 2 pools, and a lovely lawn area to sit in the shade. It had direct access to a beach. There was bar and snack service around the pool. One of the pools would suit younger children.

The staff were extremely helpful, and we booked 2 activities from their concierge who is connected to Expedia. Other people may find slighty cheaper prices down the street for the same trips but we just wanted to get things done.

There is happy hour every day round the pool and I got quite fond of Mai Tais.

We ate in the restaurant once, food was average, but service good. They have a little library of used books to borrow to pass the time. There is a good shopping centre across the road for all your needs to eat and drink. Apparently the pizza shop there has the best pizzas a NZ hawaiian resident told me but we did not eat there.

Four of us stayed at this hotel from August 14-18 (then we went to Oahu). If you use the above address on your GPS, if you rent a car, it sends you actually pasted the hotel. Swing around and turn on right on the major interection. The hotel is next to several other hotels. It's not one of the hotels that will wow you as you approach (it looks like any other hotel rather than like a resort). But the lobby and grounds are very neatly kept. The people are pleasant enough and do speak English and not only Hawaiin. Now the rooms - they get double thumbs up. It's like a home away from home. All the amenities you will need is there. We were in room 430. It had a separate bedroom, kitchen (with all the basics: pots, pans, can opener, coffee maker, dishes). The view wasn't great, as we faced the parking lot, but that was ok - we didn't stay in the room much. This hotel is conveniently located walking distance from shopping. Go to Times grocery store - it's very expensive, but it's less expensive than Safeway which is within a five minute drive. If you are a bigger family, Costco is a short drive away. I would recommend that you eat away from the hotel, as the one restaurant at the hotel is expensive and the food isn't great. Next to Times grocery store are little eateries, like pizza and chicken places. Do not shop at "At Witts End". This is a little gift shop located walking distance as well, but the owner Jasmine is very unpleasant and I was witness to her cruel treatment of some African Americans who came in to her shop and caused no problems at all. After witnessing this, I walked out and refused to buy anything from her. Later to find out that other shop owners close by have heard of her demeanor from all nationalities. A person like that should not be in a customer relations position. Do the Road to Hana - but don't drive (take a tour bus). You won't enjoy the ride and it can be very dangerous. Visit Valley of Iao....a beautiful national park. The beaches are gorgeous, but not so much at this hotel. Most people stayed at the pool, as the beach area didn't warrant for chairs, or towels. The sand is dark and the actually beach area is very narrow. However nicer beaches are a short drive away. Enjoy!
