This is not a real luau feast. They have a pig that they dig out from this fake underground oven. Then they whisk it away and you immediately get a buffet of average run of the mill hotel food including shredded pork! The drinks are awful. Performances are from the polynesian islands and are decent. However, the fake looking stage give this show a bad scenery. They also try to sell you work of art from these areas. I would look for other luaus. Finally, don't bother getting the VIP tickets. The only thing you get extra is you go to the buffet first and seat about 10 to 15 feet closer to the stage than regular tickets! You can watch this luau for free if you just stand outside behind the bushes in the hotel or if you have mountain view room at the Hyatt hotel!

This is great fun for all. I have seen this show three times and I find it entertaining everytime. The kids will love the fire dancers. The teenagers will even like the show.

It is not your normal luau, get prepared for some serious drumline demo. I think it is the best on the island, even better than the Sheraton. The food is good too, great Hyatt quality.

Highly recommended, but bring your wallet because its pricey.

Me, my husband and our 17 month old went to this luau. It was very nicely done. It's right on the beach so you get a bit of a cool breeze. We purchased our seats the day of so we just got general admission but even those seats were pretty good. (In fact, I was talking to a lady in the restroom who had purchased VIP seats and ended up being seated under a tree and she got pooped on by a bird!!!) The food was typical luau food, nothing special. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Drinks were included in the price and each table had a server so you didn't have to go up to the bar and wait. The luau itself was quite enjoyable. We didn't get to stay till the end because our little one was ready to go to sleep but we saw most of it and it was really good. They take your picture prior to being seated and you have the option to purchase it after dinner. My husband bought it and for $20 it's pretty bad. It's printed on a laser printer and is very poor quality. Besides purchasing the photo I'd definitely recommend this luau!!

We all know that luaus are set up for tourists but we thoroughly enjoyed being tourists. The event is well organized and runs smoothly. The drinks were free flowing and the food was regional and very tasty. No one goes away hungry. The show is professional but warm. I would suggest you invest in preferred seating for a better view.

My wife and I went to the Drums of the Pacific Lu'au while staying at the Hyatt Regency in Maui and we're glad we did! It was a lot of fun! Being guests at the Hyatt, we got a slight discount but it seemed that it was around $95 or so per person for the show, dinner, drinks ( included) etc. The dinner was served buffet style with a nice variety of veggies, pork ( lu'au remember?) chicken and fish along with all the usual buffet line entrees. The food was ok, though pretty low-quality considering the price for the evening. The drinks that are brought to your table by your tables server could hardly be considered alcoholic beverages....they are really watered down. Its better to just head over to the "open bar", slip the bar tender a tip and they'll give you more of a gentleman's pour. The show itself is awesome and well worth the money. The dancers are amazing and very skilled and enjoyable to watch.
All in all, a great night and we will be happy to see them perform again when we return.
