Owner description: Snorkeling trips to Lanai and Whale watching in season Constantly in search of the "Perfect Day" of snorkeling or whale watching, Captain Steve and his crew will stop at nothing to ensure unparalleled service and quality. Waste no time in discovering the secrets of the reef and playing with dolphins, humpback whales, turtles and rays. There is no telling what we might encounter on any given day. No two trips are alike, and that's probably what keeps the captains and crew so friendly and accommodating. They are as excited about going to work as the guests are about going on a Maui rafting adventure! History Established in 1986. Captain Steve's Rafting is a true example of the words "owner operated." Since he started his business in 1986, Steve has been insisting on personal service and satisfaction for every guest. As he explains, "I want to make sure everyone who comes with us absolutely loves the experience." It's hard to find someone more sincerely dedicated to making visitors happy. That's why so many customers keep coming back to Captain Steve's year after year. A note with regard to the captains and crew: It is widely known that Captain Steve has been the only operator of the family business for the past three decades, but with the advent of his second boat, he obviously cannot be two places at once. He is therefore committed to selecting only people who truly care about the craft of tourism and wish to make a positive impact on the experience of the guests. Thus "going the extra mile" is always sought after when considering a representative of his company.

Captain Steve's Rafting was so cool! First, you're on a raft (not the rinky dink scary one, but a legitimate boat). Second, you can get to the whales faster. Third, we saw a ton of whales! But I think it's pretty hit or miss with the whales. The tour that came in before us said they didn't see any whales. We hit the jackpot. Humpbacks to the left, right, in front, behind, under the boat, next to the boat. Amazing! If you have polarized sunglasses, they really help spot the whales swimming underwater nearby. Any seat on the boat is a good one. The tour was short and sweet and exactly what I wanted.

Went on a whale watch cruise the day before we went with Captain Steve, and the trip was just ok. We wanted a whale "adventure" that would allow us to get close enough to hang around the whales and take photos. And that's what we got with Captain Steve. He knew exactly where the whales were playing, and headed there. We were not disappointed. If you want a whale watch that truly is a whale watch and not a "two drinks included" cruise, this is the one. Period!!!

We made plans our last day in Maui to go whale watching. On our last trip to Maui with our kids we did both the large boat and the smaller tour (and was the highlight of our trip) and decided we liked the smaller one. I called a couple of places that were booked, and so went to the concierge at the Marriott for help. I wish she told me I would have saved $10 per ticket (there were four of us) if I booked online. We ended up paying $55 a piece, which is on the high side for a 2 hours whale watching tour if you compare. Regardless, we had a great experience. We saw quite a few whales and the guides were informative and knowledgeable. We saw a mother, calf and about six males fighting over her. The highlight of our time in Maui. Will stay with us forever.

We booked the snorkling raft trip and had a blast. The boat held about 20 people so it is a lot smaller than those big boats that jam 100 people on them. As a result we could skinny in to smaller coves than the big boats. The snorkling was great and one of the captains actually snorkled with us at one spot and gave us a tour of the reef pointing out fish, octopus etc. The lunch was great and we got to see dolphins and also whales (one whale actually went right underneath our boat, quite thrilling to see!!) The boat ride is a blast! For the money we got snorkling, whale watching and dolphin site seeing all for the price of one.
I would highly recommend this!!!
