Napali Beach is a beautiful sandy beach in Maui. Interesting to see the lava rocks of many shapes and sizes. Sand is great to walk in and the ocean waves come into the shore with a calming sound.
Visited in morning. This is a gorgeous beach, beautiful clear water for swimming with a sandy bottom. Deep drop off fairly close to shore also made for good boogie boarding and body surfing. Not a wide expanse of sand, but enough and some shade, too.
Stayed in Napili Shores Resort to be close to Napili Bay for snorkeling. Turned out that the surf was pretty high while we were there, and kept the sand churned up, resulting in poor visibility underwater. Also, we found that Napili Bay is too far north for seeing the rest of Maui. We made the trip up and down Hwy 30 several times.
The Napili Beach isn't very good for toddlers; the ocean floor drops off very quickly and is 6' deep or more just a few feet off the beach. Videos of the high surf are available.
Next time, we are thinking of staying in Lahaina, and taking a snorkeling cruise.
We really enjoyed this beach. You can enjoy the beach and then a nice lunch at the sea house that is just a short walk. The sunset view from this beach is spectacular. This beach is lovely for swimming and perfect for families with small children.
Sooooo many people! It's a nice beach, but the secret is out and it's very crowded. Also, there isn't much in terms of shade. They should plant some more palms. A lot of people brought their own umbrellas - but with the winds, they spent most of the day trying to keep them from turning inside out.
We have been going to this beach for 15 years. It is quiet, amazing views of Molokai & Lanai. You can snorkel from the beach! Amazing warm water. Turtles come visit!
