The Banyon Tree has been able to survive tourist, transients and unruly kids for centuries. As the tree added roots from it's branches an entire park is awarded with shade and nesting place for hundreds of birds that return at dusk and as others have said, "beware of bird droppings". Stand away and enjoy the sight. On the week ends they have venders and food with items for sale. It is a place you don't want to miss in Lahaina, but you may not spend much time there.

This park is in a beautiful setting across the street from the harbor. Many ocean excursion trips meet there. Also there are many restaurants, shops and bars nearby. The park is a peaceful place to sit and listen to birds and enjoy the ocean breeze. Watch for bird droppings! There is a nice little museum in the park telling of the history of the area.

This is an amazing, beautiful tree and that in itself makes it a must-see in Lahaina. I would suggest visiting it in the daytime, however, because the numerous homeless people that congregate in the park step up the drinking and pot smoking at night.

This a city park which is covered by a Banyan tree that was planted sometime in the mid 19th century. Banyan trees, as many know, are in the ficus family and put down long roots from the branches. This one has do this process so many times that there are many trunklets all over the park. The park is a gathering place for many locals and tourists who can visit in the cool shade. Especially fun is to go to the craft fair that they have on Saturday.
