If you want to see something amazing and free, go to the Banyan Tree Park in central Lahaina. You can sit on a bench and marvel at the incredible network of branches and trunks forming a single tree covering the square.

This beautiful old tree was planted in 1873 and is just gorgeous!

I discovered the $2 day pass with which you can take any bus on any of the routes for the day. Beats wasting gass and getting lost (yes, I am one of those). The #20 route on the Lahaina Islander bus from the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center in Kahului, with a stop at the Ma'alaea Harbor Village (maybe get a meal here on your way back - check the bus timetable to make sure there is still one coming back -) opposite the aquarium (visit the aquarium on another day), was breathtaking and very curvy. Miles of ocean with paddle surfers and kayaks to add to the thrill on the one side and steep mountains on the other side, with parts of the old road visible - how did the guys managed to reach Lahaina without falling over the edge? - made this a trip I will try to take many times more. The bus left us at the Wharf Cinema Center in Lahaina. The quaint shops start here and continue both ways down Front Street.
The sight of the majestic Banyan tree with the art displayed beneath the outreaching branches and the tourists enjoying the beauty surrounding it, is something no photograph can duplicate. You have to go and see for yourself. With only $2 for the trip, you will have plenty left to spend. And yes, there is good Maui coffee to give you that extra energy for all the walking you are sure to do. Enjoy!

This is one, or several trees all together like we never seen before. Nice spot for a shade break while walking through Lahaina. You will even get a sermon while you sit. There are also bathrooms in the courthouse that were surprisingly very clean.
