“12 meter sailing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

Our sail happened to be on a light air day so we didn't get to 'pound the waves and feel the spray' but we had a better opportunity to get up close to some whales and dolphins and get pictures. Crew very helpful anwering questions, fun guys (not fungi). Did not know this was the same boat used in the movie Wind about the America's Cup race. As a sailboat racer this was a once in a lifetime thrill. Mark that off my Bucket List. Would do it again. Remember, they have no control over how much wind you will get or if you will see whales. Sit back and enjoy life! Snacks and drinks provided in a cooler.

“Awesome time!! Recommended!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 17, 2013

We had a great time on the boat. All the staff and crew were friendly. Water/soda and snacks included. It wasn't a really windy day when we went, but the crew found the wind and we sailed. It would probably be pretty exciting with a lot of wind, but it was very relaxing for us and we didn't mind at all. Recommended!!!

“Best bang for your buck”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013

This was my favorite thing to do in Maui. We did ziplining, off roading, road to hana, surf lessons (ok second favorite), beach days, golfed, boogie boarded and even went to our friends' wedding, but the America II was the highlight of our trip!!! Dress warmer than you think you should, and bring some dry clothes to leave in the car for when you get back!
This was the most fun we had for the money - we couldn't believe how lucky we were to be on such an amazing boat for like $40 per person!
PS there are some waterproof cabinets on board, but once you store your stuff, people sit on the cabinets, so don't expect to have easy access to it without asking 4 people to get up.

“Lots of whales on our Performance Sail!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Three of us decided to go for a "performance sail" on America II. Having just recently gone on a very good Trilogy whale watching cruise, we were more interested in a fast, fun sail on a boat which had been a real contender for the Americas Cup. Although we had to motor out well North to pick up enough wind to be interesting, the sails finally filled and we moved out smartly...and found that we were surrounded by whales. We saw full, impressive breaches by a mother and calf duo at quite close range. So although we hadn't signed up for a whale watching trip, we certainly got one! The performance sail part of the trip was fine. The boat has been so substantially modified to meet Coast Guard requirements for carrying passengers that it bears little resemblance to the very fast, very purpose-built sailboat that it once was. The captain and mate definitely knew what they were doing. This is not the kind of excursion where the crew spends a lot of time talking with passengers. We sat right next to the captain so we did chat with him a bit, but if you're expecting a crew who provides color commentary about what's happening, you'll probably be disappointed.

“America 2 Sailing Adventure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013

I don't know what boat snoozer with an attitude was on but our sail was very fun. The captain and mate were very knowledgeable and competent. The sale was very exhilarating. They took us out into the channel between Molokai and Maui where the winds are very stiff. today they were 30 mph or better. The boat handled very well. It was very exciting. I would recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Maui. If you just want to sail in flat water and light winds go on another boat. These guys will take you out where the wind howels.
