Description: In the early days of the sugar plantations, lunch was a simple affair. Plantation workers gathered in the fields for their mid-day meal. The Japanese laborers would bring teriyaki beef with rice and pickled vegetables. Seated next to them might be their Filipino neighbors with the traditional dish adobo or perhaps a pork or chicken stew. The Koreans had their kalbi or marinated ribs and the Chinese a rice noodle and vegetable dish called chow fun. Hawaiians were known for their kalua pig, roasted in an underground oven called an imu. It wasn't long before they began to share their foods with one another and the "mixed plate" was born. Aloha Mixed Plate features true "Local" traditional plate lunches with open air seating directly on the ccean. We are open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

“Moderate price for good food”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

We were staying at a hotel and wanted to try some local food that was more reasonably priced. The hotel employees said most of the authentic island restaurants were no longer around but Aloha Mixed Plate was decent. We ordered the loco moco and mixed plate and the loco moco was definitely the favorite. Very casual, good value, nothing fancy but fits the bill if you're looking for something more reasonably priced on the island.

“beautiful views, sub-par meals”
Reviewed August 15, 2014 via mobile

six of us happily waited for our seats for less than expected time. we were very pleased with the sea-side view. We all really loved the outside seating and peaceful atmosphere.

the fun seemed to end when we got the first plate of food. we ordered garlic fries which were room temperature when they arrived. The flavor was fine. my boyfriend ordered the market fish sandwich. it was dry, cold, and obviously not fresh. my AMP burger had obviously been frozen and even with pepper jack cheese - had little flavor. Another fish dish was also dry and over cooked.

we had high hopes for this place but unfortunately the good service and beautiful ambiance did not suffice for several lackluster meals.
we respectfully spoke with a manager regarding our meals. he agreed that fish is very challenging to cook well. I humbly wonder how a restaurant in maui could serve such disappointing seafood.

“beautifull view of the sunset while dinning”
Reviewed August 14, 2014

The location of this very low profile place is spectacular. Dont'expect anything luxury. I liked it better when they served in paper plates. But the good is very good for a very good price. The only weird thing is that we could not be served alcohool at any tables. Some strange municipal rules set a line in the restaurant where you may have a beer otherwise you can't. The owner cannot do anything about it. Really weird. But if you don't mind having a glass of water or a limonade this place is a must at least once during your stay.

“Stone cold reaction”
Reviewed August 14, 2014

We headed here on a tourist guide indication. The guide said about the hawaiian food and nothing about all th rest of the menu, this should have been hint.
Let's start to say that the place is nice, on the beach, near to a luau place for tourists so you can hear the music and enjoy the meal.
Quite crowded in the evening but the staff will do its best to help you find a table.
Menu is only for a small part hawaiian: lau lau, kalua pig and alhi plate. All the rest is a mix of usual american dishes (sandwiches and even burger....never let a customer complain!) and some pan asian dishes.
We were a group of 6 and the ones who had lau lau and kalua pork had a decent experience; unfortunately the ones who had the seafood sandwich were the unlucky people.
The sandwich actually featured a bun (slightly sweet...) instead of the flat bread, the slice of fish meat was really small.
At first we noticed that the fries were cold...stone cold! We let the kind waiter know and he brought a new load of warm fries. Actually we soon realized the whole dish was stone cold so we let it know to the waiter and we finished our meal anyway.
The waiter said that he talked to the manager of the inconvenience of the cold dish but the manager never showed up even up for some excuses.
We must save the kind helpful and gentle waiter who really did his best to fix the whole thing although he was casualty of "friendly fire" from the cook and the manage himself. The price was about 18 US each person, really overpriced for the quality of the food.

“Great food and location”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

The mai thais were delicious as was the island fair. Not sure what the Yelp reviews are talking about, the food was delicious. Maybe a bit overpriced, but it's Maui, all food is overpriced. All in all the staff was very nice and friendly and the food was a notch above fast food Hawaiian.
