Description: In the early days of the sugar plantations, lunch was a simple affair. Plantation workers gathered in the fields for their mid-day meal. The Japanese laborers would bring teriyaki beef with rice and pickled vegetables. Seated next to them might be their Filipino neighbors with the traditional dish adobo or perhaps a pork or chicken stew. The Koreans had their kalbi or marinated ribs and the Chinese a rice noodle and vegetable dish called chow fun. Hawaiians were known for their kalua pig, roasted in an underground oven called an imu. It wasn't long before they began to share their foods with one another and the "mixed plate" was born. Aloha Mixed Plate features true "Local" traditional plate lunches with open air seating directly on the ccean. We are open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

My trip to Maui is not complete without a few dinners at AMP. The Kalbi ribs are great. The coconut prawns are delicious. And great happy hour drink specials.

“A Maui Must”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

My husband and I have been to Maui twice, once for our honeymoon and once for our fifth year wedding anniversary. Both times we visited, we ate at Aloha Mixed Plate at least twice.

It's really a perfect location. When you arrive, you're asked if you are going to drink or not. If you choose not to drink, you can be seated close to the beach, and you have a really nice view. The patio, where you sit if you choose to drink alcohol, is located further from the view.

Meals at Aloha Mixed Plate are a good value, and you really get a lot of food. I would recommend going for an early dinner at sunset or for lunch.

“Best value on Maui”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

I've eaten all over Maui and breakfast places abound, but none has their act together better than Aloha Mixed Plate (AMP).

Price: Here you can have a breakfast or lunch for about what you'd pay back home. That's uncommon in the Islands.

Quality: The food is very good. It's not fancy. It's not going to win any Michelin stars, but it is tasty and as good a breakfast joint as any on Maui.

Service: The service here is great. Lots of locals working and eating here. Lots of smiles, glass/cup always full and food comes fast. And, you feel welcome.

Atmosphere: There is a fantastic ocean view. Ask for it. You'll be right next to the beach and look out across the channel to Lana'i.

AMP is a great place. I'm surprised to see any negative comments on service. I've never been disappointed here and I recommend it very highly, especially for breakfast.

“Spreading the Spirit of "Aloha"”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

We have been to this restaurant many times during our visits to Maui. This is a Great restaurant for family and friends to gather. From when you first arrive, you are greeted with smiles from the staff and feel the "Aloha"! The food has always been excellent; from the Kalbi Ribs (that my wife loves), to the Loco Moco, Aloha Mixed Plate and Ali'i Plate (all 3 that I order often)! The service is top notch; starting with our server Brittany. Brittany remembered us from last year, and we loved her up-beat attitude and smile. We also were waited on by bartender GeAna; one night and she was also lively and happy. We often stopped by during happy hour to get our fill of $3.00 Mai Tai's! All-in-all, this is a great place to get great food at a cheap price.
