We walked in at 5:30, and were seated promptly on a table right on the rail overlooking the water and the sunset, a great spot to sit. And the service went pretty much downhill from there. Watched our server stand chatting with two women at the next table for twenty minutes before he eventually took our drink order, and went back to his conversation. Another table was seated next to ours, and we could see it was pretty much the same with them. The server was totally disinterested in actually serving, no daily specials or suggestions with the menu. We did get through salads and entrees, and just because of the spectacular sunset, we stayed for dessert and coffee. The salad was obviously prepared well ahead, and just siting in a cooler. The battered fish was certainly battered, thick and soggy, and the fish inside was overcooked and very greasy. The Hawaiian sea salt fries were more like frozen fries from the supermarket, and tarter sauce like it was out of a jar. Desserts were actually pretty good, and, best of all, the coffee was exceptionally good. And at that point - must be getting close to tip time - the server actually started paying attention to us. He talked about the coffee being local, and just general chit-chat, but you know what - too little way too late. We have had much better service and meals at any number of other places on Front Street.
