Some reviews had made us wonder whether we would really like the Lahaina Grill. We finally chose the restaurant based on Zagat's listing it as the 4th best on Maui. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is in an old building from about 1900. It is been very nicely remodeled keeping some of the older architectural touches while adorning the walls with Hawaiian style art. Our waiter (Erik) was very knowledgable regarding the history of the restaurant including its past chefs. Several people were involved with the service throughout the meal - all were very pleasant. The food was excellent - we each ordered a different fish entree and both entrees were aesthetically and deliciously prepared. The prices were above our normal budget, but we both felt it was worth it and stayed on for a dessert.
