“This is what it's all about - history in the present!”
Reviewed July 25, 2014

First of all, the location is beyond description as the incredible Banyon Tree is in front of the Courthouse and Custom House.
That alone is breathtaking. The buildings are a reminder of how things used to be and we walked through the one building and looked at the art, and possibly a current exhibit unless it never changes. The ocean is right behind the back of the buildings and shops and restaurants across from the Banyon Tree so you can see what is now and what was then!

“Great History”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

If you're interested in finding out about the history of Lahaina, this is the place to go. The exhibits are well done and the first floor and some of the second floor are free. However, they do have boxes for a donation for the museum part on the second floor.

“Surrounded by heaven & filled with history.”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

This courthouse was at the center of pacific whaling activities & Hawaiian royalty in a previous century. It is amazingly preserved & one can just imagine a old salt, just in from the colonies, walking through a front doorway. Behind it is the famous Banyon Tree. It's immediate neighbor immediately toward the beach is the Lahaina harbor with it's magic light at sunset. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed that you took the short time to drop by for a visit.

“A lot of history”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

Need to spend some time here. Lots to read about and the pictures depict the changes through history. It is multi level and has two different venue's to shop. One displays local artists talent and the other is a tourist type gift shop.

“Interesting Place to Visit”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

Great place to visit if for no reason than to get in out of the heat. Some interesting exhibits and a neat little gift shop with some unique "historically oriented" books and gifts. Don't miss the video about the whales and the ocean.
